Update AMUX devicetree channel node to include the reg property.
Each channel node has an index value to represent the AMUX channel
number that is used to select the corresponding analog input. The
reg property can be used to represent the above channel number
and conforms with the devicetree spec.

The thermal monitoring QPNP ADC driver is used for
monitoring multiple channels with recurring
measurements. It configures the VADC_TM peripheral
to set voltage and temperature thresholds and
notifies clients once the thresholds are crossed.
Upto five channels can be individually configured
for input channel, interval time, low and high
threshold.
The driver is added as part of the thermal sysfs
interface to provide the thermal clients the
ability to set temperature thresholds and receive
notification. Clients can separately enable/disable
low/high temperature thresholds for notification.
Channels 3 through 5 are allocated for thermistor
channels that can be used by the thermal clients
using thermal sysfs for temperature threshold
notification.
Separate kernel api's are provided for usb_id
and batt_therm driver to set voltage and temperature
threshold notifications. TM Channels 0 and 1 are
statically mapped for usb_id and batt_therm monitoring
respectively.

Update the channel name listing from ADS to PSOC.
The newer EPM uses PSOC, therefore update the string
names to accurately reflect the underlying interface

EPM driver can scale the result returned to the user
instead of returning raw ADC code that is obtained
through the PSOC.
The range of the code is from 0-0x7fff with the
corresponding voltage range from 0 to 2.048V. The
voltage units are in mV. The current is computed
using the corresponding channel's rsense value
with the units in mA.

On VADC_TM peripheral, clients have the ability
to set thresholds and receive interrupts when the
thresholds are crossed. These thresholds are required
to be converted to voltages if its a temperature
threshold and calibration is to be applied on them.
Depending on the channels the voltage and gain
api returns the absolute or ratiometric calibration
values for scaling functions. The scaling functions
currently supported are for channels usb_id, batt_therm
and thermistor channels using 100k pull-ups.

Request the interrupt source by name instead of the number.
This is to make it more obvious what interrupt source is
being requested. There are multiple interrupts within the ADC
and requesting by name makes it know what interrupt is being
requested instead of using only an interrupt index. For normal
ADC operation the end of conversion interrupt is to
being requested here.

Update mapping table for 100k/150k to keep it
consistent with other voltage-temperature mapping tables.
The previous mapping table format was in temperature-voltage.
Having a single format as much as possible avoids confusion
with the clients when it comes to using the appropriate
api's to convert temperature-voltage or voltage-temperature.

Add a timeout while the ADC read API waits for the end of
conversion interrupt. After a timeout, the status register
is read to ensure the ADC conversion is complete. The
timeout is added to return back to the user if the end
of conversion interrupt is not triggered.

The SPMI peripheral driver is not required to initialize
the peripheral interrupts. The QPNP interrupt driver
handles setting the configuration for the corresponding
interrupt bit for which the peripheral driver makes a request.
Remove the free_irq for voltage irq in the failure path.
The request is made through devm_request_irq and it will
handle freeing the irq.

Support periodic IADC peripheral calibration to perform
calibration as a function of time and temperature.
Calibration is performed every 5 minutes and for
every 5degC temperature change in the die temperature.
As part of the periodic calibration update the USR trim
registers with fresh offset values. The clients can read
the offset trim values through their own trim registers.
Support reading internal RSENSE trim register and
use it for current calculation.
Also update the gain and offset api to support clients
who require the updated periodic calibrated values.

The average buffering is used by clients who want
to set a period for which they want the PSoC to
measure and collect samples for the enabled channels.
The data obtained from the PSoC is a 12bit data for
each channel measurement. The EPM driver parses the
data for each of this channel and stores the result
for clients who issued the average buffered request.

Incorrect PMIC_THERM/XO_THERM readings are seen when
the XO clock is disabled.
The internal PMIC therm relies on the PMIC band gap
reference which in turn is enabled when any of the
PMIC clock buffers are enabled. The XO_THERM relies
on the VREF_XO as its reference source which gets
enabled when any of the PMIC clock buffers are
switched on. Therefore vote for a clock buffer when
a PMIC_THERM/XO_THERM is requested.

Incorrect spi write transactions and incorrect readings
are seen. This is because of using incorrect SPI slave
address while initiating the SPI writes to the ADS ADC.
Also fix the incorrect scaling when converting the raw ADC
code to the appropriate physical result.

VADC peripheral has internal support to select
configurable pull-ups through a configurable AMUX
100k and 150k pull-up. Clients who need the
configurable pull-up include PA_THERM's, XO_THERM's,
EMMC_THERM, MSM_THERM can select the appropriate
channel id to select the 100k/150k pull-up.

Add support for communicating with the PSOC
using the supported protocol commands from
the PSOC.
The support includes communicating with the
controller to initiate and start the ADC
conversion for the selected channels. Start
and receive ADC conversion for single measurement,
buffered reads, averaging the samples and returning
the results over the set averaging period.
Other commands supported include setting/receiving
the timestamp, setting reference voltage, toggling
gpio to set triggers on set events.

VADC/IADC peripheral is supported from PMIC 2.0 onwards.
Add version check to allow VADC/IADC reads if the
version is supported. Add probe defereal api for clients
who need to know if the ADC driver is ready. There is a
bug where the completion is not initialized. Fix it
by initializing it. Add support to disable the peripheral
after the ADC is read and enable it before starting a
conversion.
Add scaling functions to support reading the die temperature,
XO_THERM, batt_therm and batt_id. Add the ratiometric
calibration routine that uses the vref/gnd for calibration.
The ratiometric calibration is used for calibrating xo_therm,
batt_therm, batt_id.
Update the gain value used for calibration on the IADC
peripheral. PMIC 2.0 IADC peripheral uses 17.857mV instead
of 25mV for its gain calibration.

The scaling function multiplies the ADC code with
a high scale factor to avoid rouding accuracy errors.
This results in a 32 bit integer not being sufficient
to store the result. Therefore use a 64 bit integer
type to process the result.

Fix reading/writing to the correct ADC peripheral offset
address during SPMI read/writes. While adding multiple
channels an incorrect channel index initialization causes
the ADC reads to occur only on one channel. Fix it by
initializing the channel index only once at init.
The configure api has few register read/writes done
without using the bit mask field. Fix it by reading
the register and updating only the concerned bits.
Also add more comments to the configure api to list
out the steps for each register configuration and
fix using the correct print statements on error.

The QPNP IADC driver supports the user bank
peripheral of the current ADC(IADC).
IADC is a 16 bit ADC used for measuring current.
The single measurement mode is supported to read
current from upto seven channel configuration.
Clients can read the internal/external Rsense,
CSP_EX, CSN_RX along with gain and offset
calibraton channels.

The PM8xxx ADC interrupt is configured as a
wakeable interrupt. Therefore the system can suspend
and still have the end of conversion interrupt be
serviced.
Add a timeout in the wait_for_completion in case
the end of conversion event is not received. This
is to rule out any side affects if a missed interrupt
occurs.

The QPNP VADC driver supports the User Bank Peripheral of
the voltage ADC(VADC).
VADC is a 15 bit ADC that measures signals through the
Main analog multiplexer (AMUX) and PREMUX. The driver
arbitrates the request to issue ADC read requests.
VADC driver includes support for the conversion sequencer.
The conversion sequencer is a HW triggered signal to start
ADC measurement on trigger events for PA ON,
camera flash and TX threshold.
The AMUX supports external pull-ups simultaneously. Clients
can select the appropriate AMUX input channel to measure the
ADC for the intended pull up configuration.

Inaccurate temperature readings are reported for
pa_therm when read from the apps. This is because
an inaccurate B constant was used while calculating
the voltage to temperature mapping table. Fix it
by generating the table using the correct B constant
for the thermistor.

In adt7470_write_word_data(), which writes two bytes using
i2c_smbus_write_byte_data(), the return codes are incorrectly AND-ed
together when they should be OR-ed together.
The return code of i2c_smbus_write_byte_data() is zero for success.
The upshot is only the first byte was ever written to the hardware.
The 2nd byte was never written out.
I noticed that trying to set the fan speed limits was not working
correctly on my system. Setting the fan speed limits is the only
code that uses adt7470_write_word_data(). After making the change
the limit settings work and the alarms work also.

Driver displays wrong alarms for temperature attributes.
Turns out that temperature alarm bits are not fixed, but determined
by temperature source mapping. To fix the problem, walk through
the temperature sources to determine the correct alarm bit associated
with a given attribute.

On a system with both MAX1617 and JC42 sensors, JC42 sensors can be misdetected
as LM84. Strengthen detection sufficiently enough to avoid this misdetection.
Also improve detection for ADM1021.
Modeled after chip detection code in sensors-detect command.

time_after (as opposed to time_after_equal) already ensures that the
cache lifetime is at least as much as requested. There is no point in
manually adding another jiffy to that value, and this can confuse the
reader into wrong interpretation.

Most LM75-compatible chips can either sample much faster or with a
much better resolution than the original LM75 chip. So far the lm75
driver did not let the user take benefit of these improvements. Do it
now.
I decided to almost always configure the chip to use the best
resolution possible, which also means the longest sample time. The
only chips for which I didn't are the DS75, DS1775 and STDS75, because
they are really too slow in 12-bit mode (1.2 to 1.5 second worst case)
so I went for 11-bit mode as a more reasonable tradeoff. This choice is
dictated by the fact that the hwmon subsystem is meant for system
monitoring, it has never been supposed to be ultra-fast, and as a
matter of fact we do cache the sampled values in almost all drivers.
If anyone isn't pleased with these default settings, they can always
introduce a platform data structure or DT support for the lm75. That
being said, it seems nobody ever complained that the driver wouldn't
refresh the value faster than every 1.5 second, and the change made
it faster for all chips even in 12-bit mode, so I don't expect any
complaint.

Prepare the lm75 driver to support per-chip resolution and sample
time. For now we only make the code generic enough to support it, but
we still use the same, unchanged resolution (9-bit) and sample time
(1.5 s) for all chips.

There is no standard for the configuration register bits of LM75-like
chips. We shouldn't blindly clear bits setting the resolution as they
are either unused or used for something else on some of the supported
chips.
So, switch to per-chip configuration initialization. This will allow
for better tuning later, for example using more resolution bits when
available.

Each of ST-Ericsson X500 chip set series consists of both ABX500 and DBX500
chips. This is ABX500 hwmon driver, where the abx500.c is a common layer for
all ABX500s, and the ab8500.c is specific for AB8500 chip. Under this designed
structure, other chip specific files can be added simply using the same common
layer abx500.c.

Per datasheet, VIN3 and AUXTIN share the same external pin. However, there
is no clean way to detect this condition. Furthermore, both are reported
by the BIOS on Supermicro C7H61. It may thus be possible that chip revisions
exist where both attributes are supported at the same time.
Better play safe and report both.

NCT6775, NCT6776, and NCT6779 have a number of variants with the same
chip ID but different chip labels. Add text "or compatible" to the
message displayed when the driver is loaded and rephrase the Kconfig
entry to reflect that it also supports compatible chips.

Limits on all supported sensors and chips have to be within 0..0x0fff,
and limits are always positive.

So far the driver reported the voltage on VAUX as "vout2". This was not
entirely appropriate as it is not an output voltage, and complicates
the code. Use the new virtual "VMON" register set and report the voltage
as "vmon" instead.

This patch adds DT support to NTC driver to parse the

The adt7310/adt7320 is the SPI version of the adt7410/adt7420. The register map
layout is a bit different, i.e. the register addresses differ between the two
variants, but the bit layouts of the individual registers are identical. So both
chip variants can easily be supported by the same driver. The issue of non
matching register address layouts is solved by a simple look-up table which
translates the I2C addresses to the SPI addresses.
The patch moves the bulk of the adt7410 driver to a common module that will be
shared by the adt7410 and adt7310 drivers. This common module implements the
driver logic and uses a set of virtual functions to perform IO access. The
adt7410 and adt7310 driver modules provide proper implementations of these IO
accessor functions for I2C respective SPI.

Currently each time the temperature register is read the driver also reads the
threshold and hysteresis registers. This increases the amount of I2C traffic and
time needed to read the temperature by a factor of ~5. Neither the threshold nor
the hysteresis change on their own, so once we have read them, we should be able
to just use the cached value of the registers. This patch modifies the code
accordingly and only reads the threshold and hysteresis registers once during
probe.

On LTC2978, only READ_TEMPERATURE is supported. It reports
the internal junction temperature. This register is unpaged.
On LTC3880, READ_TEMPERATURE and READ_TEMPERATURE2 are supported.
READ_TEMPERATURE is paged and reports external temperatures.
READ_TEMPERATURE2 is unpaged and reports the internal junction

We read the chip ID from the chip, use it to determine if the chip ID provided

This patch replaces the horribly coded of_count_named_gpios() with a
call to of_count_phandle_with_args() which is far more efficient. This
also changes the return value of of_gpio_count() & of_gpio_named_count()
from 'unsigned int' to 'int' so that it can return an error code. All
the users of that function are fixed up to correctly handle a negative
return value.

Some of the ZL6100 compatible chips support monitoring a separate voltage pin,
VMON (ZL2004) or VDRV (ZL91xx). Report it as in2 / vmon.
The chips support implicit warning limits for VMON/VDRV, as percentage of the
respective critical voltage. Support by reading/writing the critical voltages
and calculating the associated warning voltages.

For PMBus chips, modifying one limit register may affect other limits.
Since limits are all cached in the PMBus core driver, related changes
are not reflected in reported limits.
Introduce function to clear the attribute cache. After calling this function,
the core pmbus driver re-reads all cached values.

Some PMBus chips support monitoring an additional non-standard voltage. While
this voltage can in many cases be supported by simulating an additional sensor
page, this does not work in all cases. Specifically, it is problematic if the
data format is linear and the voltage is reported in LINEAR11 format. Since
output voltages use LINEAR16, and the exponent for LINEAR16 data is chip-wide
and fixed, this can result in overflows.
To solve this problem, add support for an additional virtual input voltage,
call it 'vmon', and treat this voltage as input voltage (which, when the chip
supports linear data format, uses LINEAR11).

So far, attribute memory was allocated by pre-calculating the maximum possible
amount of attributes. Not only does this waste memory, it is also risky because
the calculation might be wrong. It also requires a lot of defines to specify
the maximum number of attributes per class.
Allocate attribute memory using krealloc() instead. That means we have to use
kfree(), since devm_krealloc() does not exist, but that is still less costly
and less risky than trying to predict the number of attributes at the beginning.

Boolean handling depends on storing the sensor data index in sensor_device_attr
as part of the index variable. This limits the number of sensor attributes to
256, and means the sensor sequence number actually has to be maintained to be
able to access sensor data from boolean functions.
Rework the code to store sensor pointers in the pmbus_boolean data structure
directly. With this approach, the number of supportable sensors is now
unlimited.

Since memory is now allocated with dev_ functions, we no longer need to keep
track of allocated memory. Memory allocation for booleans and labels can
therefore be simplified substantially by allocating it only as needed.

The LM73 supports four A/D conversion resolutions. The default used by
the existing lm73 driver is the chip's default, 11-bit (0.25 C/LSB).
This patch enables changing of this resolution from userspace via the
update_interval sysfs attribute. Full details on usage are included in
Documentation/hwmon/lm73.

While the LM73 is only specified for temperatures from -40 to +150 degrees C,
its power-up minimum and maximum temperature limits are -256 and +255.75
degrees C. For better consistency and to avoid confusion, clamp limits to
the power-up limits and not to -40 / +150 degrees C.

Without this patch, the SHT15 driver may fail silently with a
non-bidirectional data line and/or an input-only clock line.
This patch checks the return value of gpio_direction_* function calls
and returns the error code (if any) to the caller. If an error occurs in
the read work function (work_funct_t), we wake the queue up directly
without updating the data->state flag, to notice the waiter of the I/O
error.
The patch also makes minor cleanups: s/error_ret/unlock for some labels
and uses devm_gpio_request_one() for the clock line.

and clamp_val is more efficient.

The second argument of ACPI driver .remove() operation is only used
by the ACPI processor driver and the value passed to that driver
through it is always available from the given struct acpi_device
object's removal_type field. For this reason, the second ACPI driver
.remove() argument is in fact useless, so drop it.

If an LM73 device does not exist on an I2C bus, attempts to communicate
with the device result in an error code returned from the i2c read/write
functions. The current lm73 driver casts that return value from a s32
type to a s16 type, then converts it to a temperature in celsius.
Because negative temperatures are valid, it is difficult to distinguish
between an error code printed to the response buffer and a negative
temperature recorded by the sensor.
The solution is to evaluate the return value from the i2c functions
before performing any temperature calculations. If the i2c function did
not succeed, the error code should be passed back through the virtual
file system layer instead of being printed into the response buffer.

Extend support for reporting and selecting PECI temperature sensors

IT8721 and IT8728 support Intel PECI temperature reporting. Each sensor
can be programmed to display the temperature reported on the PECI interface.
If configured for Intel PECI, the driver reported the wrong sensor type for
the respective thermal sensor. Fix the code to correctly report it as
"Intel PECI (6)".

The macro name show_sensor_offset is confusing since it related to the sensor
type, not an offset - even more so when we introduce offset attributes later on.
Replace it with direct definitions, and replace the show_sensor/set_sensor
function names with show_temp_type/set_temp_type. This also resolves a

A deeper analysis of the code shows that these are false positives, as
only the lower 3 bits of data->have_temp_offset can be set so the
write is never attempted with i >= 3. However this shows that the code
isn't very robust and future changes could easily introduce a buffer
overflow. So let's add a safety check to prevent that and make smatch
happy.

Only the W83627HF could be accessed through I2C. All other supported

On suspend some register values are lost, most notably the Value RAM
areas but also other limits. Restore them on resume. On top of that,
some fixups are needed to work around BIOS bugs, in particular when
the BIOS omits running the same initialization sequence on resume
that it does after boot. In that case we have to carry initialization
over suspend.

Here's the large driver core updates for 3.8-rc1.
The biggest thing here is the various __dev* marking removals. This is
going to be a pain for the merge with different subsystem trees, I know,
but all of the patches included here have been ACKed by their various
subsystem maintainers, as they wanted them to go through here.
If this is too much of a pain, I can pull all of them out of this tree
and just send you one with the other fixes/updates and then, after
3.8-rc1 is out, do the rest of the removals to ensure we catch them all,
it's up to you. The merges should all be trivial, and Stephen has been
doing them all in linux-next for a few weeks now quite easily.
Other than the __dev* marking removals, there's nothing major here, some
firmware loading updates and other minor things in the driver core.
All of these have (much to Stephen's annoyance), been in linux-next for
a while.

This is the HWMON patch for DA9055 PMIC and has got dependency on the
DA9055 MFD core.
This patch monitors the DA9055 PMIC's ADC channels vddout, junction temperature
and auxiliary channels.
This patch is functionally tested on Samsung SMDKV6410.

So far, we use the NM10 Express Chipset PCI chip ID to detect TjMax for
Atom CPUs with model 0x1c. As it turns out, we can use the CPU stepping
(x86_mask) for the same purpose; stepping is 10 for all model 0x1c CPUs
with TjMax of 100 degrees C. This was verified by checking the output of
/proc/cpuinfo for the respective CPUs (D4xx, D5xx, N4xx, N5xx).
Other CPUs currently covered by the same code (Exx, Z6xx, Z2460) are not
supported by the NM10 Express Chipset. Most of those CPUs have TjMax of 90
degrees C, except for E6xxT models which have a TjMax of 110 degrees C.
E6xxT CPUs can however not be detected by software.
Calculate TjMax for Atom CPUs as follows. Note that the listed values are not
correct in some cases (230, 330). tjmax_table is used for those to override
the default values.

The ADS7830 device is almost the same as the ADS7828,
except that it does 8-bit sampling, instead of 12-bit.
This patch extends the ads7828 driver to support this chip.

As there is no reliable way to identify the chip, it is preferable to
remove the detect callback, to avoid misdetection.
Module parameters are not worth it here, so let's get rid of them and
add an ads7828_platform_data structure instead.
Clean the code by removing unused macros, fixing coding style issues,
avoiding function prototypes and using convenient macros such as
module_i2c_driver().

These got broken by recent patches fixing checkpatch warnings in these
drivers. The trick is that the patches themselves looked good, but the
source files after applying them do not. That's why I am not a big fan

Don't assume bank 0 is selected at device probe time. This may not be

The following fixes build errors on sparc. Without any DT support,
of_match_ptr is NULL and the below is a no-op. However, if just
CONFIG_OF is defined then so is of_match_ptr.
All useful parts of the gpio-fan DT support rely on CONFIG_OF_GPIO
anyway, so of_match_table should too.

TjMax for the CE4100 series of Atom CPUs was previously reported to be
110 degrees C.
cpuinfo logs on the web show existing CPU types CE4110, CE4150, and CE4170,
reported as "model name : Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU CE41{1|5|7}0 @ 1.{2|6}0GHz"
with model 28 (0x1c) and stepping 10 (0x0a). Add the three known variants
to the tjmax table.

This is a pretty significant branch. It's the introduction of the
first multiplatform support on ARM, and with this (and the later
branch) merged, it is now possible to build one kernel that contains
support for highbank, vexpress, mvebu, socfpga, and picoxcell. More
platforms will be convered over in the next few releases.
Two critical last things had to be done for this to be practical and
possible:
* Today each platform has its own include directory under
mach-<mach>/include/mach/*, and traditionally that is where a lot of
driver/platform shared definitions have gone, such as platform data
structures. They now need to move out to a common location instead,
and this branch moves a large number of those out to
include/linux/platform_data.
* Each platform used to list the device trees to compile for its
boards in mach-<mach>/Makefile.boot.
Both of the above changes will mean that there are some merge
conflicts to come (and some to resolve here). It's a one-time move and
once it settles in, we should be good for quite a while. Sorry for the

Pull ARM soc multiplatform enablement from Olof Johansson:
"This is a pretty significant branch. It's the introduction of the
first multiplatform support on ARM, and with this (and the later
branch) merged, it is now possible to build one kernel that contains
support for highbank, vexpress, mvebu, socfpga, and picoxcell. More
platforms will be convered over in the next few releases.
Two critical last things had to be done for this to be practical and
possible:
* Today each platform has its own include directory under
mach-<mach>/include/mach/*, and traditionally that is where a lot
of driver/platform shared definitions have gone, such as platform
data structures. They now need to move out to a common location
instead, and this branch moves a large number of those out to
include/linux/platform_data.
* Each platform used to list the device trees to compile for its
boards in mach-<mach>/Makefile.boot.
Both of the above changes will mean that there are some merge
conflicts to come (and some to resolve here). It's a one-time move
and once it settles in, we should be good for quite a while. Sorry
for the overhead."

Replace per-device initialization and per-device calculation code with
per-device configuration data, which is then used to configure the chip and
perform calculations based on that data.
This patch reduces code size by more than 400 bytes on x86_64.

MAX1110 is similar to MAX1111, with 8 instead of 4 channels. MAX1112 and MAX1113
are similar to MAX1110 and MAX1111, with 4.096V reference voltage instead of
2.048V.

The MAX197 is an A/D converter, made by Maxim. This driver currently
supports the MAX197, and MAX199. They are both 8-Channel, Multi-Range,
5V, 12-Bit DAS with 8+4 Bus Interface and Fault Protection.
The available ranges for the MAX197 are {0,-5V} to 5V, and {0,-10V} to
10V, while they are {0,-2V} to 2V, and {0,-4V} to 4V on the MAX199.

This patch brings basic support for the Analog Devices ADT7410 temperature
sensor. The following functionality has been implemented:
* get current temperature
* get/set minimum, maximum and critical temperature
* get/set hysteresis
* get alarm events for minimum, maximum and critical temperature
All implemented sysfs attributes have been sucessfully tested at temperatures
of 15°C to 40°C.
