The WCD9320 Codec Driver is an ALSA-compliant codec driver. This driver
constructs the internal codec audio paths with DAPM widgets and
controls and provides the controls to the upper layers to enable and
configure audio paths.

wcd9310's MUX for calibration is connected only to micbias 2.
Therefore if MBHC micbias is other than micbias 2, it's required to route
override to micbias 2 during calibration.
Set cfilt which is associated with micbias 2 as fast mode during
calibration for the same reason.

Both audio path and MBHC accessory detection logic need master clock
enabled along with bandgap and clock block of CODEC. Clock control
is managed by the machine driver. Calls to clock control function from
audio and MBHC detection paths can be nested. As a result, reference
counter of master clock is incremen/decrement out of order and cause
master clock not enabled when audio path is enabled. Without master clock
CODEC will not consume data and this leads to SLIMBUS overflow error.

when playback and capture is started.When a mixer
command is issued it needs to scan only the path

The Dynamic PCM core allows digital audio data to be dynamically
routed between different ALSA PCMs and DAI links on SoC CPUs with
on chip DSP devices. e.g. audio data could be played on pcm:0,0 and
routed to any (or all) SoC DAI links.
Dynamic PCM introduces the concept of Front End (FE) PCMs and Back
End (BE) PCMs. The FE PCMs are normal ALSA PCM devices except that
they can dynamically route digital audio data to any supported BE
PCM. A BE PCM has no ALSA device, but represents a DAI link and it's
substream and audio HW parameters.

Change creates a PCM stream for ASOC backend which will only be used
internally by kernel drivers.It provides existing ASoC components
drivers with a substream and access to any private data.
- During bootup, create a file system storing the
information about usb device state and name, and
broadcast the message to userspace whenever the
device is plugged or unplugged.
- Register the device at USB sound card initialization
for creating file system and toggle the state in that
filesystem when USB is plugged/unplugged. This will
also send a message to user space informing it about
state change.

ASoC: Last minute fixes
Some last minute fixes for ASoC. Small, focused changes to specific
drivers.
BIOS on some HP laptops don't set the speaker-pins as fixed but expose
as jacks, and this confuses the driver as if these pins are
jack-detectable. As a result, the machine doesn't get sounds from
speakers because the driver prepares the power-map update via jack
unsol events which never come up in reality. The bug was introduced
in some time in 3.2 for enabling the power-mapping feature.
This patch fixes the problem by replacing the check of the persistent
power-map bits with a proper is_jack_detectable() call.

When an IRQ for some reason gets lost, we wait up to a second using
udelay, which is CPU intensive. This patch improves the situation by
waiting about 30 ms in the CPU intensive mode, then stepping down to
using msleep(2) instead. In essence, we trade some granularity in
exchange for less CPU consumption when the waiting time is a bit longer.
As a result, PulseAudio should no longer be killed by the kernel
for taking up to much RT-prio CPU time. At least not for *this* reason.

This reverts commit 785f857d1c.
The commit causes a problem with the wrong D3 state after suspend
because the call of hda_set_power_state() involves with the power-up
sequence, which changes the power_count, and this confuses the resume
sequence that checks the power_count as well.
Originally, this go-to-D3 sequence should be a simple task without the
power-up sequence. But, it'd need some proper sanity checks in the
case of power-saved state, so it's not too easy to write now in the
3.4-rc cycle.
In short, the safest option now is to revert this affecting commit.
Of course, we need to clean up and robustify the power-saving code
better for 3.5 kernel.

fixup pre-probe initialization. Otherwise SKU_IGNORE fixup won't work

snd_hdsp uses its own ioctls to acquire config- and status information.
Expose the corresponding ioctl handler via ioctl_compat, so that 32bit applications can use it on 64bit kernels.

It's actually an integer handle on the actual firmware, and 0 has no
special meaning.
The assertion prevents initialisation of a Darla20 card, but would also

As s3c2412-i2s is using the s3c_i2sv2 it should call the more specialised
s3c_i2sv2_register_dai instead of simply calling snd_soc_register_dai.
Without this call the snd_soc_dai_ops structure isn't initialised correctly.

The core allocates the live copies, we shouldn't try to duplicate it and
were buggy trying to do so as we were using uninitialised data for the
control data.

a bug preventing resumeof the codec as regmap expects a 9 bits data
register but 0xFFFF is passed in tlv320aic23_set_bias_level and this
values gets cached preventing any write to the TLV320AIC23_PWR
register as the final value produced by regmap is (register << 9) | value
* this patch solves the problem by only working on the 9 bits the
register contains.

laptop-dmic model is used. According to BIOS pin config, all
pins are consistent with the alc269vb_laptop_dmic fixup, except
for the external mic, which is not present.

Merge fixes for Thinkpad docking-station regressions for 3.3 kernels
back to 3.4. These were committed in that branch to make the stable
merging easier.
Conflicts:
sound/pci/hda/patch_conexant.c
ThinkPad 410,420,510,520 and X201 with cx50585 & co chips have the
docking-station ports, but BIOS doesn't initialize for these pins.
Thus, like the former X200, we need to set up the pins manually in the
driver.
The odd part is that the same PCI SSID is used for X200 and T400, thus
we need to prepare individual fixup tables for cx5051 and others.

Some output pins on Conexant chips have no HP control bit, but the
auto-parser initializes these pins unconditionally with PIN_HP.
Check the pin-capability and avoid the HP bit if not supported.

Current alsa_sound_last_init() was called as __initcall().
So, on current ALSA, only devices that had been properly
registered at this point were shown.
So, it will show "No soundcards found" if driver requests
probe deferment. it's often misleading.
This patch delays the timing of alsa_sound_last_init()
as workaround.

While refactoring the mute-LED handling for HP laptops, I messed up
the polarity check in a wrong way. The red (or the mute-LED if any)
should appear in the muted state, corresponding to GPIO on.

Through the transition to the auto-parser, the support for
Quanta/Gericom KN1 got broken. There are two problems behind it:
- This machine doesn't like the default COEF setup for ALC260 we take
now as default
- BIOS doesn't set the pins correctly at all; especially the machine
uses only the pin 0x0f for both headphone and speaker
This patch adds the fixup as a workaround for these issues.

Leading up to the ->device_prep_slave_sg change in
185ecb5f4f 'dmaengine: add context
parameter to prep_slave_sg and prep_dma_cyclic' a generic wrapper was
added in place to guard against the API change, though the fsi driver
wasn't updated in the process (presumably its dmaengine support hadn't
been merged yet at the time). This trivially switches over to the new
wrapper and gets it building again.

Currently we increment the number of RTD's per card during the DAI link
bind. This can cause an incorrect RTD count when we cannot find a component
and defer the probe (and hence perform the DAI link bind for the card again).
Fix the count so that it is cleared before every card registration
and bind attempt.

Complete the separation of the twl6040 from the twl core since
it is a separate chip, not part of the twl6030 PMIC.

If cs42l73_get_mclkx_coeff() returns < 0 (which it can) in
sound/soc/codecs/cs42l73.c::cs42l73_set_mclk(), then we'll be using

In sound/pci/hda/patch_realtek.c::alc_auto_fill_dac_nids(), in the
'for (;;)' loop, if the 'badness' value returned from
fill_and_eval_dacs() is negative, then we'll return from the function
without freeing the memory we allocated for 'best_cfg', thus leaking.
Fix the leak by kfree()'ing the memory when badness is negative.
While I was there I also noticed some trailing whitespace in the
function that I removed (along with all other trailing whitespace in
the file) - it didn't seem worth-while to do that as two patches, so I
hope it's OK that I just did it all as one patch.

Line widgets had not been included in either the power up or power down
sequences so if a widget had an event associated with it that event would
never be run. Fix this minimally by adding them to the sequences, we
should probably be doing away with the specific widget types as they all
have the same priority anyway.

A user reported that setting model=imac24 used to allow sound to work on their
Mac Pro 5,1 machine. Commit 5671087ffa "Move ALC885 macpro and imac24 models
to auto-parser" removed this model option. All Mac machines are now explicitly
handled with a quirk and the auto-parser. This adds a quirk for the device
found on the Mac Pro 5,1 machines.

whatever unknown reason, xine (and xine-lib clients) wants that the
frontend to tell what frequency he is using even before the PLL lock

zig-zag seek, done by the DVB core. Anyway, the fix was trivial.

The ID used for detection of the BenQ R55E actually identifies the
Quanta TW3 ODM design, which is also used for the Gigabyte W551 laptop
series. Schematics on the internet clearly indicate that the "Port C"
(analog input connected to record source #4 and mixer input #4) is
unconnected.
Playing an audio CD through analog playback (using cdplay from cdtools)
produces no sound, even with the mixer input labelled "CD" enabled, and
the volume control in the CD drive set to maximum. This indicates the
connection is really not present.

The "input converter" widget of the CX20459 has only one input amplifier,
expose that one as "Capture Volume/Capture Switch". The actual record
source selection is already exposed through the separately installed
input mux.

they want to support a custom read/write function op. This leads to a
proliferation of the default_open() implementation across the entire
tree.

The ASoC core currently defaults to using STANDBY rather than OFF for
idle ASoC platform devices, which causes a permanent pm_runtime_get() on
them. This keeps the device active unnecessarily. This can be especially
problematic when the ASoC platform device and DAI device are the same
device.
The distinction between OFF and STANDBY is likely not relevant for ASoC
platform drivers, since they aren't analog devices. So, solve this issue
by hard-coding idle_bias_off = 1 for all ASoC platform devices. If this
turns out to be a problem, this value could be sourced from the
snd_soc_platform_driver, similarly to soc_probe_codec().
Note: Prior to this change, this caused a large (10) runtime_active count
for the Tegra I2S controller even when not in use, and a leak in that
value as streams were started and stopped. This change probably hides a
bug.

The cleanup of the dmaengine parameter messup and a tweak to some
callibration values for WM1811.
Remove the check for CONFIG_PPC_85xx and CONFIG_PPC_86xx from fsl_guts.h.
The check was originally intended to allow the same header file to
be used on 85xx and 86xx systems, even though the Global Utilities
register could be different. It turns out that they're not actually
different, and so the check is not necessary. In addition, neither
macro is defined for 64-bit e5500 kernels, so that causes a build
break.

dependency problem that came about when I produced some patches to
optimise get_order() by rewriting it to use ilog2().
This uses bitops - and on the SH arch asm/bitops.h drags in
asm-generic/get_order.h by a circuituous route involving asm/system.h.
The main difficulty seems to be asm/system.h. It holds a number of
low level bits with no/few dependencies that are commonly used (eg.
memory barriers) and a number of bits with more dependencies that
aren't used in many places (eg. switch_to()).
These patches break asm/system.h up into the following core pieces:
(1) asm/barrier.h
Move memory barriers here. This already done for MIPS and Alpha.
(2) asm/switch_to.h
Move switch_to() and related stuff here.
(3) asm/exec.h
Move arch_align_stack() here. Other process execution related bits
could perhaps go here from asm/processor.h.
(4) asm/cmpxchg.h
Move xchg() and cmpxchg() here as they're full word atomic ops and
frequently used by atomic_xchg() and atomic_cmpxchg().
(5) asm/bug.h
Move die() and related bits.
(6) asm/auxvec.h
Move AT_VECTOR_SIZE_ARCH here.

These are all specific to some driver. They are typically the platform
side of a change in the drivers directory, such as adding a new driver
or extending the interface to the platform. In cases where there is no
maintainer for the driver, or the maintainer prefers to have the
platform changes in the same branch as the driver changes, the patches
to the drivers are included as well.
A much smaller set of driver updates that depend on other branches
getting merged first will be sent later.
The new export of tegra_chip_uid conflicts with other changes in fuse.c.
In rtc-sa1100.c, the global removal of IRQF_DISABLED conflicts with
the cleanup of the interrupt handling of that driver.

which will eventually lead to removing them.

file has two changes in the same line, and in exynos, the power domain
cleanup conflicts with the addition of the image sensor device.

Move the header to a more common place.
The mxs dma engine is not only used in mx23/mx28, but also used
in mx50/mx6q. It will also be used in the future chips.
Rename it to mxs-dma.h, and create a new folder include/linux/fsl/ to
store the Freescale's header files.
change mxs-dma driver, mxs-mmc driver, gpmi-nand driver, mxs-saif driver
to the new header file.

pxa was missed in the moving of IOMEM to a common definition, so lots of
IOMEM redefined warnings were introduced. So remove pxa IOMEM definition
and fix all the fallout.

Nearly every subsystem has some kind of header with a proto like:

and yet there is no reason for most of these guys to care about the
sub fields within the device struct. This allows us to significantly
reduce the scope of headers including headers. For this instance, a
reduction of about 40% is achieved by replacing the include with the
simple fact that the device is some kind of a struct.
Unlike the much larger module.h cleanup, this one is simply two
commits. One to fix the implicit <linux/device.h> users, and then
one to delete the device.h includes from the linux/include/ dir

Here is the first big update chunk of sound stuff for 3.4-rc1.
In the common sound infrastructure, there are a few changes for
dynamic PCM support (used in ASoC) and a few clean-ups. Majority of
changes are found, as usual, in HD-audio and ASoC.
Some highlights of HD-audio changes:
- All the long-standing static quirk codes for Realtek codec were
finally removed by fixing and extending the Realtek auto-parser.
- The mute-LED control is standardized over all HD-audio codec
drivers using the extended vmaster hook.
- The vmaster slave mixer elements are initialized to 0dB as default
so that the user won't be annoyed by the silent output after
updates, e.g. due to the additions of new elements.
- Other many fix-ups for the misc HD-audio devices.
In the ASoC side, this is a very active release, including a quite a
few framework enhancements. Some highlights:
- Support for widgets not associated with a CODEC, an important part
of the dynamic PCM framework.
- A library factoring out the common code shared by dmaengine based
DMA drivers contributed by Lars-Peter Clausen. This will save a lot
of code and make it much easier to deploy enhancements to
dmaengine.
- Support for binary controls, used for providing runtime
configuration of algorithm coefficients.
- A new DAPM widget type for regulator supplies allowing drivers for
devices that can power down unused supplies while active to do
without any per-driver code.
- DAPM widgets for DAIs, initially giving a speed boost for playback
startup and shutdown and also the basis for CODEC<->CODEC DAI link
support.
- Support for specifying the number of significant bits on audio
interfaces, useful for allowing applications to know how much effort
to put into generating data for a larger sample format.
- Conversion of the FSI driver used on some SH processors to
DMAEngine.
- Conversion of EP93xx drivers to DMAEngine.
- New CODEC drivers for Maxim MAX9768 and Wolfson Microelectronics
WM2200.
- Move audmux driver from arc/arm to sound/soc
- McBSP move from arch/ to sound/ and updates
Also, a few small updates and fixes for other drivers like au88x0,

In the common sound infrastructure, there are a few changes for
dynamic PCM support (used in ASoC) and a few clean-ups. Majority of
changes are found, as usual, in HD-audio and ASoC.

- All the long-standing static quirk codes for Realtek codec were
finally removed by fixing and extending the Realtek auto-parser.
- The mute-LED control is standardized over all HD-audio codec

The recent Realtek driver tries to assign an extra input via the
headphone plug when only a single input source is found. The code
worked on Samsung Q1, but it broke ASUS 1015 where the mic is a
digital-mic and only a specific ADC works.
This patch fixes the assignment of ADC in the shared mic/hp case.
Instead of assuming the single ADC at first, reduce the ADCs after
trying to assign both mic and HP pins.

The optimal management of VMID depends on a number of factors which vary
dynamically at runtime, for example the connection to a system docking
station. In some circumstances it is desirable to keep VMID enabled all
the time, in others it is desirable to aggressively power it up and down.
Provide a callback allowing machine driver to configure either the normal
power up/down mode (WM8994_VMID_MODE_NORMAL) or to maintain VMID even
when idle (WM8994_VMID_MODE_FORCE). This callback, wm8994_vmid_mode(),
should be called with the CODEC lock.

Fix HW seek in TEA575x to work properly:
- a delay must be present after search start and before first register read
or the seek does weird things
- when the search stops, the new frequency is not available immediately, we
must wait until it appears in the register (fortunately, we can clear the
frequency bits when starting the search as it starts at the frequency
currently set, not from the value written)
- sometimes, seek remains on the current frequency (or moves only a little),
so repeat it until it moves by at least 50 kHz

The tea575x-tuner module has been updated to use the latest V4L2 framework
functionality. This also required changes in the drivers that rely on it.
The tea575x changes are:
- The drivers must provide a v4l2_device struct to the tea module.
- The radio_nr module parameter must be part of the actual radio driver,
and not of the tea module.
- Changed the frequency range to the normal 76-108 MHz range instead of
50-150.
- Add hardware frequency seek support.
- Fix broken rxsubchans/audmode handling.
- The application can now select between stereo and mono.
- Support polling for control events.
- Add V4L2 priority handling.
And radio-sf16fmr2.c now uses the isa bus kernel framework.

PXA's SSP engine fails to take its current channel phase into account
when enabling a stream while the engine is already running. This
results in randomly swapped left/right channels on either the record
or the playback side, depending on which one was enabled first.
The following patch fixes this by factoring out the bit field
modifications in question to a separate function that pauses the
engine temporarily, modifies the bits and kicks it off again
afterwards. Appearantly, a transition of SSCR0_SSE syncs both
directions properly.
The patch has been rolled out to quite a number of devices over the
last weeks and seems to fix the issue reliably.

The WM8776 codec driver requires the machine driver to set one of the
SND_SOC_DAIFMT_CBx_xxx values. The P1022DS machine driver should be setting
SND_SOC_DAIFMT_CBM_CFM, but since that value was zero, no one noticed.
Commit 75d9ac46 ("ASoC: Allow DAI formats to be specified in the
dai_link"), however, changed the value of SND_SOC_DAIFMT_CBM_CFM from zero
to a non-zero value, which means that it now needs to be specifically set
by the machine driver.
We also set SND_SOC_DAIFMT_NB_NF, for the same reason.

boilerplate. This patch adds a new macro, module_amba_driver(),
which replaces the module_init()/module_exit() registrations with
template functions.

Linus decided to go for another week so here's a few more updates - a
mixed bag here, a few minor diagnostic tweaks, some driver enhancements
and the dmaengine conversion for ep93xx drivers which was tested a while
ago and just waiting for a signoff.
GFP_ATOMIC is used in snd_pcm_link() just because the kmalloc is
called inside a lock. Since this function isn't too critical for
speed and is rarely called in practice, better to allocate the chunk
at first before spinlock and free it in error paths, so that
GFP_KERNEL can be used.

Both the Snapper CL15 and EDB93xx audio drivers set the same audio
configuration in ep93xx_i2s_acquire. Remove the arguments to
ep93xx_i2s_acquire so that the audio drivers no longer need the
EP93XX_SYSCON defines exported.

A previous commit af65cbf296 (ALSA: hdmi: fix printout of SAD sampling
rates) fixed the sample rates shown in /proc/asound/cardX/eldY and
kernel log to not be entirely wrong. However, a missing rate from the
array added in the patch causes HDMI rates 88.2 kHz, 96 kHz, 176.4 kHz,
and 192 kHz to be shown as 96 kHz, 176.4 kHz, 192 kHz, and 384 kHz,
respectively.
Fix the reporting by adding the ALSA rate 64 kHz into the conversion
array between 48 kHz and 88.2 kHz.

Since it's not always safe to assume that the vmaster hook is purely the
mute-LED control, add the flag indicating whether to expose the mute-LED
enum control or not. Currently, conexant codec sets this off for non-HP
laptops where EAPD may be used really as EAPD.

Create snd_hda_add_vmaster_hook() and snd_hda_sync_vmaster_hook()
helper functions to handle the mute-LED in vmaster hook more
commonly. In the former function, a new enum control "Mute-LED Mode"
is added. This provides user to choose whether the mute-LED should be
turned on/off explicitly or to follow the master-mute status.

Currently we can the accdet mutex from within DAPM when updating the device
state which means we take accdet then the CODEC mutex but we also do the
locking the other way around when responding to the jackdet IRQ. Move all
the jackdet use of the CODEC mutex out of the accdet lock to avoid this.
Since all the DAPM interactions depend only on a single threaded IRQ this
is still serialised.
The locking improvements in 3.5 allow a better solution there.

Added the vmaster hook for controlling EAPD dynamically to Conexant
auto-parser. When the Master is muted, EAPDs are turned off as well.
This will fix the missing mute-LED control on some machines in
addition to the more power-saving in the auto-parser mode.

We've had ugly static handling of the mute-LED with a powersave hook
for ALC269 HP laptops just like done in patch_sigmatel.c. This is now
rewritten with the new vmaster hook and a fixup code.
For that, the new fixup action, ALC_FIXUP_ACT_BUILD, is introduced.
It's called after build_controls is called. The reason of this new
action is that vmaster hook must be added at this stage (not in init
or probe).

The mute-LED is controlled in patch_sigmatel.c by (ab-)using the
powersave hook. This can be now rewritten with the vmaster hook
instead, which is much simpler and can work even without
CONFIG_SND_HDA_POWER_SAVE kconfig.
A drawback is that the mute-LED corresponds _only_ to the Master mixer
switch instead of checking the whole DACs. But usually this shouldn't
be a big problem as PA enables the mixer elements accordingly.
Also, this patch changes the code to create vmaster always even on
STAC9200 and STAC925x. The former "Master" on these chips are renamed
as "PCM" now.

The McBSP driver stack has been moved, and rewritten resulting a single
driver - selected by CONFIG_SND_OMAP_SOC_MCBSP. There is no longer need to
have CONFIG_OMAP_MCBSP anymore.

We are setting SNDRV_PCM_HW_PARAM_BUFFER_SIZE based on
SNDRV_PCM_HW_PARAM_CHANNELS, not vice versa. This bug didn't
have much impact because the rules are evaluated multiple times
by the core, and intended value got set eventually.

Remove the no longer valid check for McBSP1 regarding to signal mux
selection (on OMAP4 McBSP4 has 6 pin setup).
Only clear the srgr2, pcr0 register configuration if the requested clock
configuration will actually going to touch it. In this way we can avoid
issues if the CLKR/FSR mux has been configured after the clock selection.
We are going to check for the valid McBSP port in the
omap_mcbsp_6pin_src_mux() function based on the validity of the mux_signal
callback (which is only valid for ports having 6 pin setup).

On OMAP4 we have one interrupt line per McBSP port.
At probe time tx, and rx irq value will be -ENXIO,
and only the tx irq will get corrected.
In omap_mcbsp_request if the rx_irq is not 0 we proceed,
and try to request the interrupt, which will fail on
OMAP4 (rx_irq == -6).
To avoid this error, clear the rx_irq at probe time
on OMAP4.

If external source for the CLKS signal selection kept after the port is no
longer in use the system might refuse to go suspend.
There is also a chance that the external clock is not running when next
time the McBSP port is started which can result errors when we try to
access McBSP registers.
Reset the CLKS source back to PRCM source unconditionally.

Configure the WAKEUPEN register at the same time we configure the rest of
the McBSP registers.
In case of OMAP3+, if the sysclock has been reconfigured we are going to
disable McBSP for the duration of the clock change, which will reset the
McBSP registers. The WAKEUPEN register need to be configured later, so
the changes will be effective during runtime.

The OMAP McBSP driver stack used to contain two different
drivers. One of them was used as kind low-level access to
the IP, while the other driver was the ASoC DAI driver.
There were global, shared structures, in different places,
the McBSP instances are reffered with id numbers (sometimes
0 based, in other cases 1 based id numbers).
Create one single driver for OMAP McBSP with name: omap-mcbsp.
Convert the old omap-mcbsp driver initially to be a library
for the omap-mcbsp DAI driver. With this change we can get rid
of all global variables, structures.
Further cleanup is coming...

The widget locking depends on some of the other locking changes which
are queued up for 3.5 not 3.4 so revert the locking changes and reapply
them in 3.5.

that they call it out. This will allow us to clean up some
of the implicit uses of linux/device.h within include/*
without introducing build regressions.
Yes, this was created by "cheating" -- i.e. the headers were
cleaned up, and then the fallout was found and fixed, and then
the two commits were reordered. This ensures we don't introduce
build regressions into the git history.

When the driver is changed to use vmaster or a new slave element is
added by the improvement of the parser code, user may face often the
silent output because of the muted slave mixer although Master volume
is properly set. And they complain. And I get upset.
Although such a mixer element should be initialized via "alsactl init",
it'd be more user-friendly if the known output slaves are unmuted and
set to 0dB so that user can control the volume only with Master as
default. Since Master is still set muted as default even with this
change, no risk of the speaker blow up, too.

Check /compatible rather than /model to determine the machine name.
The p1022ds older device trees get a different /model from the new
ones, while /compatible is consistent there, so checking /compatible
will save the bother of detecting older p1022ds device trees.

We've seen a problem with a pop-noise at suspend/resume on a HP
machine with ALC269, and it turned out to be an issue that the
controller going to D3 while the codec is unused.
When the device is once suspended and resumed and kept unused, the
driver doesn't initialize the codecs. Instead, the codec chips are
set up dynamically at the first usage. Now, suppose the device going
to suspend again before the codec is set up. The controller is turned
off to D3 while the codec chips are untouched. This caused a pop
noise because the codec chip might have been turned on implicitly by
the hardware.
As a workaround, the codec chip needs to be set to D3 when going to
suspend no matter whether it was used or not. Also, for making it
happening, the controller has to be always set up in the resume path.

The coef setup in alc269_fill_coef() was designed only for ALC269VB
model, and this has some bad effects for other ALC269 variants, such

Currently ASoC:imx uses menuconfig option SND_IMX_SOC selects imx-ssi
driver, and it works because all the machine driver covered by the
menuconfig need to build imx-ssi driver in. However, it will not work
any more if we have a imx based machine driver going into the menuconfig
while working with fsl_ssi driver (sound/soc/fsl/fsl_ssi.c) rather than
imx-ssi one.
The patch adds an explicit Kconfig option SND_SOC_IMX_SSI for imx-ssi
driver, so that it can be selected independently from the menuconfig
option SND_IMX_SOC.

Currently the imx-ssi.c[h] accommodates the imx-pcm common bits which
are shared between imx-pcm-dma-mx2 and imx-pcm-fiq drivers. It assumes
that imx-pcm-dma-mx2 and imx-pcm-fiq will always be used together with
imx-ssi driver. However this becomes untrue when we see that driver
sound/soc/fsl/fsl_ssi could possibly work with imx-pcm-dma-mx2 too.
The patch moves the imx-pcm common bits from imx-ssi.c[h] into new
files imx-pcm.c[h], and let imx-pcm-dma-mx2 and imx-pcm-fiq drivers
build it in, so that imx-pcm-dma-mx2 can work with no dependency on
imx-ssi driver.

As audmux becomes a platform driver and its callers are all ASoC
machine drivers, there is no reason to keep it in arch folder, so
move it to sound/soc/imx.
One bonus point would be those ASoC machine drivers stop including
mach/audmux.h, since it's been moved to sound/soc/imx/imx-audmux.h.
This should be a move to the right direction in terms of single kernel
image goal.

This functionality has already been implemented in the cx20442 codec
driver (commit f75a8ff67d, "ASoC: cx20442:
add bias control over a platform provided regulator"), no need to keep
it here duplicated.
Once done, remove the no longer used AMS_DELTA_LATCH2_MODEM_NRESET
symbol from the board header file and a call to the regulator_toggle()
helper function from the old API wrapper found in the board file. While
being at it, simplify the way the modem .pm callback handles the
regulator and drop that helper function and its related consumer setup
completely.
Depends on patches 1/3 and 2/3 for clean apply and keep things working.

The driver already defines control "Multi Track Rate Locking" which
locks the card at current rate if switched to internal clock. This patch
limits the runtime rates to this rate only, allowing proper reporting
of the card capabilities, and e.g. automatic rate conversion by the plug
plugin to the currently locked rate.

SND_SOC_AC97_BUS is selected to enable the AC97 support in soc-core.
Rather than selecting the option under SND_IMX_SOC, it's better to
leave the selection to individual machine driver which knows if AC97
support is needed or not.

It's not necessary for imx-pcm-dma-mx2 to access imx_ssi.dma_params
for burstsize initialization. Instead, it can just be done in imx-ssi

This patch changes the ARCH name to "ARCH_S3C24XX" for Samsung
S3C2410, S3C2412, S3C2413, S3C2416, S3C2440, S3C2442, S3C2443,
and S3C2450 SoCs so that we can merge the mach-xxx directories
and plat-s3c24xx dir. to just one mach-s3c24xx for them.
I think this should be sent to upstream via samsung tree because
this touches many samsung stuff.

snd_soc_register_card() has been available and strongly preferred since
2.6.38 but we're still seeing new drivers using it and the conversion rate
for older machines has been low. Help address both issues by logging a
warning when the soc-audio device probes.
