Kaustubh Pandey a607d76b50 net: core: null pointer derefernce in sockev_client_cb
sockev_client_cb creates a netlink message and populates
the nlmsg_data using the socket->sock information.
If socket is closed, while the nlmsg_data is being
populated, a null pointer dereference occurs.

Eric Dumazet c6720c70df net: fix possible overflow in __sk_mem_raise_allocated()

With many active TCP sockets, fat TCP sockets could fool
__sk_mem_raise_allocated() thanks to an overflow.

They would increase their share of the memory, instead
of decreasing it.

Eric Dumazet c68d00c473 tcp: make sure EPOLLOUT wont be missed

As Jason Baron explained in commit 790ba4566c1a ("tcp: set SOCK_NOSPACE
under memory pressure"), it is crucial we properly set SOCK_NOSPACE
when needed.

However, Jason patch had a bug, because the 'nonblocking' status
as far as sk_stream_wait_memory() is concerned is governed
by MSG_DONTWAIT flag passed at sendmsg() time :

    long timeo = sock_sndtimeo(sk, flags & MSG_DONTWAIT);

So it is very possible that tcp sendmsg() calls sk_stream_wait_memory(),
and that sk_stream_wait_memory() returns -EAGAIN with SOCK_NOSPACE
cleared, if sk->sk_sndtimeo has been set to a small (but not zero)
value.

This patch removes the 'noblock' variable since we must always
set SOCK_NOSPACE if -EAGAIN is returned.

It also renames the do_nonblock label since we might reach this
code path even if we were in blocking mode.

Neigh timer can be scheduled multiple times from userspace adding

Wang Hai 8ba0e26a08 net-sysfs: Fix memory leak in netdev_register_kobject

When registering struct net_device, it will call
	register_netdevice ->
		netdev_register_kobject ->
			device_initialize(dev);
			dev_set_name(dev, "%s", ndev->name)
			device_add(dev)
			register_queue_kobjects(ndev)

In netdev_register_kobject(), if device_add(dev) or
register_queue_kobjects(ndev) failed. Register_netdevice()
will return error, causing netdev_freemem(ndev) to be
called to free net_device, however put_device(&dev->dev)->..->
kobject_cleanup() won't be called, resulting in a memory leak.

Eric Dumazet 6e906a3570 neigh: fix use-after-free read in pneigh_get_next

Nine years ago, I added RCU handling to neighbours, not pneighbours.
(pneigh are not commonly used)

Unfortunately I missed that /proc dump operations would use a
common entry and exit point : neigh_seq_start() and neigh_seq_stop()

We need to read_lock(tbl->lock) or risk use-after-free while
iterating the pneigh structures.

We might later convert pneigh to RCU and revert this patch.

viresh kumar d656ae1fd1 net/neighbour: queue work on power efficient wq
Workqueue used in neighbour layer have no real dependency of scheduling these on
the cpu which scheduled them.

On a idle system, it is observed that an idle cpu wakes up many times just to
service this work. It would be better if we can schedule it on a cpu which the
scheduler believes to be the most appropriate one.

This patch replaces normal workqueues with power efficient versions. This
doesn't change existing behavior of code unless CONFIG_WQ_POWER_EFFICIENT is
enabled.

Li RongQing 98015fa8e8 net: ethtool: not call vzalloc for zero sized memory request

NULL or ZERO_SIZE_PTR will be returned for zero sized memory
request, and derefencing them will lead to a segfault

so it is unnecessory to call vzalloc for zero sized memory
request and not call functions which maybe derefence the
NULL allocated memory

this also fixes a possible memory leak if phy_ethtool_get_stats
returns error, memory should be freed before exit

Eric Dumazet b01a8531d0 netns: provide pure entropy for net_hash_mix()

net_hash_mix() currently uses kernel address of a struct net,
and is used in many places that could be used to reveal this
address to a patient attacker, thus defeating KASLR, for
the typical case (initial net namespace, &init_net is
not dynamically allocated)

I believe the original implementation tried to avoid spending
too many cycles in this function, but security comes first.

Also provide entropy regardless of CONFIG_NET_NS.

Julian Anastasov 4e4bd95717 neigh: do not modify unlinked entries
commit 2c51a97f76d20ebf1f50fef908b986cb051fdff9 upstream.

The lockless lookups can return entry that is unlinked.
Sometimes they get reference before last neigh_cleanup_and_release,
sometimes they do not need reference. Later, any
modification attempts may result in the following problems:

1. entry is not destroyed immediately because neigh_update
can start the timer for dead entry, eg. on change to NUD_REACHABLE
state. As result, entry lives for some time but is invisible
and out of control.

2. __neigh_event_send can run in parallel with neigh_destroy
while refcnt=0 but if timer is started and expired refcnt can
reach 0 for second time leading to second neigh_destroy and
possible crash.

on the __neigh_event_send change.

Timo Teräs 2e166816b8 BACKPORT: neigh: probe application via netlink in NUD_PROBE
iproute2 arpd seems to expect this as there's code and comments
to handle netlink probes with NUD_PROBE set. It is used to flush
the arpd cached mappings.

opennhrp instead turns off unicast probes (so it can handle all
neighbour discovery). Without this change it will not see NUD_PROBE
probes and cannot reconfirm the mapping. Thus currently neigh entry
will just fail and can cause few packets dropped until broadcast
discovery is restarted.

after set SO_DONTROUTE to 1, the IP layer should not route packets if
the dest IP address is not in link scope. But if the socket has cached
the dst_entry, such packets would be routed until the sk_dst_cache
expires. So we should clean the sk_dst_cache when a user set

Eric Dumazet c4cd7fe732 net: make skb_partial_csum_set() more robust against overflows

syzbot managed to crash in skb_checksum_help() [1] :

        BUG_ON(offset + sizeof(__sum16) > skb_headlen(skb));

Root cause is the following check in skb_partial_csum_set()

	if (unlikely(start > skb_headlen(skb)) ||
	    unlikely((int)start + off > skb_headlen(skb) - 2))
		return false;

If skb_headlen(skb) is 1, then (skb_headlen(skb) - 2) becomes 0xffffffff
and the check fails to detect that ((int)start + off) is off the limit,
since the compare is unsigned.

When we fix that, then the first condition (start > skb_headlen(skb))
becomes obsolete.

Then we should also check that (skb_headroom(skb) + start) wont
overflow 16bit field.

Ido Schimmel 9d1db2bac2 rtnetlink: Disallow FDB configuration for non-Ethernet device

When an FDB entry is configured, the address is validated to have the
length of an Ethernet address, but the device for which the address is
configured can be of any type.

The above can result in the use of uninitialized memory when the address
is later compared against existing addresses since 'dev->addr_len' is
used and it may be greater than ETH_ALEN, as with ip6tnl devices.

Fix this by making sure that FDB entries are only configured for
Ethernet devices.

Eric Dumazet c40251b7d6 rtnl: limit IFLA_NUM_TX_QUEUES and IFLA_NUM_RX_QUEUES to 4096

We have an impressive number of syzkaller bugs that are linked
to the fact that syzbot was able to create a networking device
with millions of TX (or RX) queues.

Let's limit the number of RX/TX queues to 4096, this really should
cover all known cases.

A separate patch will add various cond_resched() in the loops
handling sysfs entries at device creation and dismantle.

Wolfgang Bumiller 2b61b2cb8e net: fix deadlock while clearing neighbor proxy table
commit 53b76cdf7e8fecec1d09e38aad2f8579882591a8 upstream.

When coming from ndisc_netdev_event() in net/ipv6/ndisc.c,
neigh_ifdown() is called with &nd_tbl, locking this while
clearing the proxy neighbor entries when eg. deleting an
interface. Calling the table's pndisc_destructor() with the
lock still held, however, can cause a deadlock: When a
multicast listener is available an IGMP packet of type
ICMPV6_MGM_REDUCTION may be sent out. When reaching
ip6_finish_output2(), if no neighbor entry for the target
address is found, __neigh_create() is called with &nd_tbl,
which it'll want to lock.

Move the elements into their own list, then unlock the table
and perform the destruction.

Ihar Hrachyshka 4691e7d1ee neighbour: update neigh timestamps iff update is effective

It's a common practice to send gratuitous ARPs after moving an
IP address to another device to speed up healing of a service. To
fulfill service availability constraints, the timing of network peers
updating their caches to point to a new location of an IP address can be
particularly important.

Sometimes neigh_update calls won't touch neither lladdr nor state, for
example if an update arrives in locktime interval. The neigh->updated
value is tested by the protocol specific neigh code, which in turn
will influence whether NEIGH_UPDATE_F_OVERRIDE gets set in the
call to neigh_update() or not. As a result, we may effectively ignore
the update request, bailing out of touching the neigh entry, except that
we still bump its timestamps inside neigh_update.

This may be a problem for updates arriving in quick succession. For
example, consider the following scenario:

A service is moved to another device with its IP address. The new device
sends three gratuitous ARP requests into the network with ~1 seconds
interval between them. Just before the first request arrives to one of
network peer nodes, its neigh entry for the IP address transitions from
STALE to DELAY.  This transition, among other things, updates
neigh->updated. Once the kernel receives the first gratuitous ARP, it
ignores it because its arrival time is inside the locktime interval. The
kernel still bumps neigh->updated. Then the second gratuitous ARP
request arrives, and it's also ignored because it's still in the (new)
locktime interval. Same happens for the third request. The node
eventually heals itself (after delay_first_probe_time seconds since the
initial transition to DELAY state), but it just wasted some time and
require a new ARP request/reply round trip. This unfortunate behaviour
both puts more load on the network, as well as reduces service
availability.

This patch changes neigh_update so that it bumps neigh->updated (as well
as neigh->confirmed) only once we are sure that either lladdr or entry
state will change). In the scenario described above, it means that the
second gratuitous ARP request will actually update the entry lladdr.

Ideally, we would update the neigh entry on the very first gratuitous
ARP request. The locktime mechanism is designed to ignore ARP updates in
a short timeframe after a previous ARP update was honoured by the kernel
layer. This would require tracking timestamps for state transitions
separately from timestamps when actual updates are received. This would
probably involve changes in neighbour struct. Therefore, the patch
doesn't tackle the issue of the first gratuitous APR ignored, leaving
it for a follow-up.

Lorenzo Colitti d4e12061f4 net: core: add UID to flows, rules, and routes
- Define a new FIB rule attributes, FRA_UID_RANGE, to describe a
  range of UIDs.
- Define a RTA_UID attribute for per-UID route lookups and dumps.
- Support passing these attributes to and from userspace via
  rtnetlink. The value INVALID_UID indicates no UID was
  specified.
- Add a UID field to the flow structures.

Lorenzo Colitti 6a2dd740c1 net: core: Add a UID field to struct sock.
Protocol sockets (struct sock) don't have UIDs, but most of the
time, they map 1:1 to userspace sockets (struct socket) which do.

Various operations such as the iptables xt_owner match need
access to the "UID of a socket", and do so by following the
backpointer to the struct socket. This involves taking
sk_callback_lock and doesn't work when there is no socket
because userspace has already called close().

Simplify this by adding a sk_uid field to struct sock whose value
matches the UID of the corresponding struct socket. The semantics
are as follows:

1. Whenever sk_socket is non-null: sk_uid is the same as the UID
   in sk_socket, i.e., matches the return value of sock_i_uid.
   Specifically, the UID is set when userspace calls socket(),
   fchown(), or accept().
2. When sk_socket is NULL, sk_uid is defined as follows:
   - For a socket that no longer has a sk_socket because
     userspace has called close(): the previous UID.
   - For a cloned socket (e.g., an incoming connection that is
     established but on which userspace has not yet called
     accept): the UID of the socket it was cloned from.
   - For a socket that has never had an sk_socket: UID 0 inside
     the user namespace corresponding to the network namespace
     the socket belongs to.

Kernel sockets created by sock_create_kern are a special case
of #1 and sk_uid is the user that created them. For kernel
sockets created at network namespace creation time, such as the
per-processor ICMP and TCP sockets, this is the user that created
the network namespace.

Bob Gilligan 86fd7540bd neigh: Netlink notification for administrative NUD state change
The neighbour code sends up an RTM_NEWNEIGH netlink notification if
the NUD state of a neighbour cache entry is changed by a timer (e.g.
from REACHABLE to STALE), even if the lladdr of the entry has not
changed.

But an administrative change to the the NUD state of a neighbour cache
entry that does not change the lladdr (e.g. via "ip -4 neigh change
...  nud ...") does not trigger a netlink notification.  This means
that netlink listeners will not hear about administrative NUD state
changes such as from a resolved state to PERMANENT.

This patch changes the neighbor code to generate an RTM_NEWNEIGH
message when the NUD state of an entry is changed administratively.

Hannes Frederic Sowa 439f3a844c net: neighbour: use source address of last enqueued packet for solicitation
Currently we always use the first member of the arp_queue to determine
the sender ip address of the arp packet (or in case of IPv6 - source
address of the ndisc packet). This skb is fixed as long as the queue is
not drained by a complete purge because of a timeout or by a successful
response.

If the first packet enqueued on the arp_queue is from a local application
with a manually set source address and the to be discovered system
does some kind of uRPF checks on the source address in the arp packet
the resolving process hangs until a timeout and restarts. This hurts
communication with the participating network node.

This could be mitigated a bit if we use the latest enqueued skb's
source address for the resolving process, which is not as static as
the arp_queue's head. This change of the source address could result in
better recovery of a failed solicitation.

Jakub Kicinski 072bcb833a net: fix race on decreasing number of TX queues

netif_set_real_num_tx_queues() can be called when netdev is up.
That usually happens when user requests change of number of
channels/rings with ethtool -L.  The procedure for changing
the number of queues involves resetting the qdiscs and setting
dev->num_tx_queues to the new value.  When the new value is
lower than the old one, extra care has to be taken to ensure
ordering of accesses to the number of queues vs qdisc reset.

Currently the queues are reset before new dev->num_tx_queues
is assigned, leaving a window of time where packets can be
enqueued onto the queues going down, leading to a likely
crash in the drivers, since most drivers don't check if TX
skbs are assigned to an active queue.

Willem de Bruijn 4bc0509673 net: avoid skb_warn_bad_offload on IS_ERR

skb_warn_bad_offload warns when packets enter the GSO stack that
require skb_checksum_help or vice versa. Do not warn on arbitrary
bad packets. Packet sockets can craft many. Syzkaller was able to
demonstrate another one with eth_type games.

In particular, suppress the warning when segmentation returns an
error, which is for reasons other than checksum offload.

Cong Wang 71ee59f2d8 tun: call dev_get_valid_name() before register_netdevice()
commit 0ad646c81b2182f7fa67ec0c8c825e0ee165696d upstream.

register_netdevice() could fail early when we have an invalid
dev name, in which case ->ndo_uninit() is not called. For tun
device, this is a problem because a timer etc. are already
initialized and it expects ->ndo_uninit() to clean them up.

We could move these initializations into a ->ndo_init() so
that register_netdevice() knows better, however this is still
complicated due to the logic in tun_detach().

Therefore, I choose to just call dev_get_valid_name() before
register_netdevice(), which is quicker and much easier to audit.
And for this specific case, it is already enough.

Nicolas Dichtel c3ce3dff0e net: enable interface alias removal via rtnl

IFLA_IFALIAS is defined as NLA_STRING. It means that the minimal length of
the attribute is 1 ("\0"). However, to remove an alias, the attribute
length must be 0 (see dev_set_alias()).

Let's define the type to NLA_BINARY to allow 0-length string, so that the
alias can be removed.

Willem de Bruijn b659cfd51a net: avoid skb_warn_bad_offload false positives on UFO

skb_warn_bad_offload triggers a warning when an skb enters the GSO
stack at __skb_gso_segment that does not have CHECKSUM_PARTIAL
checksum offload set.

Commit b2504a5dbef3 ("net: reduce skb_warn_bad_offload() noise")
observed that SKB_GSO_DODGY producers can trigger the check and
that passing those packets through the GSO handlers will fix it
up. But, the software UFO handler will set ip_summed to
CHECKSUM_NONE.

When __skb_gso_segment is called from the receive path, this
triggers the warning again.

Make UFO set CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY instead of CHECKSUM_NONE. On
Tx these two are equivalent. On Rx, this better matches the
skb state (checksum computed), as CHECKSUM_NONE here means no
checksum computed.

Christoph Paasch 3e038b907f net: Set sk_prot_creator when cloning sockets to the right proto

sk->sk_prot and sk->sk_prot_creator can differ when the app uses
IPV6_ADDRFORM (transforming an IPv6-socket to an IPv4-one).
Which is why sk_prot_creator is there to make sure that sk_prot_free()
does the kmem_cache_free() on the right kmem_cache slab.

Now, if such a socket gets transformed back to a listening socket (using
connect() with AF_UNSPEC) we will allocate an IPv4 tcp_sock through
sk_clone_lock() when a new connection comes in. But sk_prot_creator will
still point to the IPv6 kmem_cache (as everything got copied in
sk_clone_lock()). When freeing, we will thus put this
memory back into the IPv6 kmem_cache although it was allocated in the
IPv4 cache. I have seen memory corruption happening because of this.

With slub-debugging and MEMCG_KMEM enabled this gives the warning
	"cache_from_obj: Wrong slab cache. TCPv6 but object is from TCP"
