commit b2504a5dbef3305ef41988ad270b0e8ec289331c upstream.
Dmitry reported warnings occurring in __skb_gso_segment() [1]
All SKB_GSO_DODGY producers can allow user space to feed
packets that trigger the current check.
We could prevent them from doing so, rejecting packets, but
this might add regressions to existing programs.
It turns out our SKB_GSO_DODGY handlers properly set up checksum
information that is needed anyway when packets needs to be segmented.
By checking again skb_needs_check() after skb_mac_gso_segment(),
we should remove these pesky warnings, at a very minor cost.

commit 48481c8fa16410ffa45939b13b6c53c2ca609e5f upstream.
Dmitry posted a nice reproducer of a bug triggering in neigh_probe()
when dereferencing a NULL neigh->ops->solicit method.
This can happen for arp_direct_ops/ndisc_direct_ops and similar,
which can be used for NUD_NOARP neighbours (created when dev->header_ops
is NULL). Admin can then force changing nud_state to some other state
that would fire neigh timer.

commit 13baa00ad01bb3a9f893e3a08cbc2d072fc0c15d upstream.
It is now very clear that silly TCP listeners might play with
enabling/disabling timestamping while new children are added
to their accept queue.
Meaning net_enable_timestamp() can be called from BH context
while current state of the static key is not enabled.
Lets play safe and allow all contexts.
The work queue is scheduled only under the problematic cases,
which are the static key enable/disable transition, to not slow down
critical paths.
This extends and improves what we did in commit 5fa8bbda38c6 ("net: use

Root cause is that sk_filter() can truncate the incoming skb,

During hotplug if an RPS CPU goes offline,
then there is a possibility that the IPI
delivery to the RPS core might fail, this
happens in the cases when unruly drivers
use netif_rx API in the wrong context.
This happens due to two reasons
a) Firstly using netif_rx API in non preemptive
context leads to enough latencies that the IPI
delivery might fail to an RPS core. This is because
the softIRQ trigger will become unpredictable.
b) by using netif_rx it becomes an architectural
issue where we are trying to do two things in two
different contexts. We set the NAPI bit in context
and sent the IPI in other context. Now since the
context switch is allowed, the remote CPU is allowed
to go finish its hotplug.
If there was no context switch in the first place,
which typically happens by either using the correct
version of netif_rx or switching to NAPI framework,
then the remote CPU is not allowed to go to CPU_DOWN
state. This is by design since hotplug framework causes
the remote dying CPU to wait until atleast one context
switch happens on all other CPUS. If preemption is
disabled then the dying CPU has to wait until preemption
is enabled and a context switch happens.
This patch catches these unruly drivers and handles
IPI misses by clearing NAPI sate on remote RPS CPUs.
Please refere here for more documentation on hotplug
and preemption cases https://lwn.net/Articles/569686/

skb_clone does not copy all fields from original skb. Fields
which are uninitialized may cause unexpected behavior when they
are passed down to network stack. In case ndisc_nodetype is set
to a random value for a router advertisement, kernel looks at this
field and drops it assuming that this packet originates from a
node and not a router.
Fix this by copying the ndisc_nodetype from the original skb
rather than relying on an uninitialized cloned skb.

commit 415e3d3e90ce9e18727e8843ae343eda5a58fad6 upstream.
The commit referenced in the Fixes tag incorrectly accounted the number
of in-flight fds over a unix domain socket to the original opener
of the file-descriptor. This allows another process to arbitrary
deplete the original file-openers resource limit for the maximum of
open files. Instead the sending processes and its struct cred should
be credited.
To do so, we add a reference counted struct user_struct pointer to the
scm_fp_list and use it to account for the number of inflight unix fds.

related to disabling sock timestamp.
When SCTP accepts an association or peel one off, it copies sock flags
but forgot to call net_enable_timestamp() if a packet timestamping flag

such clones were closed.
The fix is to call net_enable_timestamp() whenever we copy a sock with

Further investigation showed that this can happen when an *odd* number of
fds are being passed over AF_UNIX sockets.
In these cases CMSG_LEN(i * sizeof(int)) and CMSG_SPACE(i * sizeof(int)),
where i is the number of successfully passed fds, differ by 4 bytes due
to the extra CMSG_ALIGN() padding in CMSG_SPACE() to an 8 byte boundary
on 64 bit. The padding is used to align subsequent cmsg headers in the
control buffer.
When the control buffer passed in from the receiver side *lacks* these 4
bytes (e.g. due to buggy/wrong API usage), then msg->msg_controllen will
overflow in scm_detach_fds():
int cmlen = CMSG_LEN(i * sizeof(int)); <--- cmlen w/o tail-padding
err = put_user(SOL_SOCKET, &cm->cmsg_level);
if (!err)
err = put_user(SCM_RIGHTS, &cm->cmsg_type);
if (!err)
err = put_user(cmlen, &cm->cmsg_len);
if (!err) {
cmlen = CMSG_SPACE(i * sizeof(int)); <--- cmlen w/ 4 byte extra tail-padding
msg->msg_control += cmlen;
msg->msg_controllen -= cmlen; <--- iff no tail-padding space here ...
} ... wrap-around
F.e. it will wrap to a length of 18446744073709551612 bytes in case the
receiver passed in msg->msg_controllen of 20 bytes, and the sender
properly transferred 1 fd to the receiver, so that its CMSG_LEN results
in 20 bytes and CMSG_SPACE in 24 bytes.
In case of MSG_CMSG_COMPAT (scm_detach_fds_compat()), I haven't seen an
issue in my tests as alignment seems always on 4 byte boundary. Same
should be in case of native 32 bit, where we end up with 4 byte boundaries
as well.
In practice, passing msg->msg_controllen of 20 to recvmsg() while receiving
a single fd would mean that on successful return, msg->msg_controllen is
being set by the kernel to 24 bytes instead, thus more than the input
buffer advertised. It could f.e. become an issue if such application later
on zeroes or copies the control buffer based on the returned msg->msg_controllen
elsewhere.
Maximum number of fds we can send is a hard upper limit SCM_MAX_FD (253).
Going over the code, it seems like msg->msg_controllen is not being read
after scm_detach_fds() in scm_recv() anymore by the kernel, good!
Relevant recvmsg() handler are unix_dgram_recvmsg() (unix_seqpacket_recvmsg())
and unix_stream_recvmsg(). Both return back to their recvmsg() caller,
and ___sys_recvmsg() places the updated length, that is, new msg_control -
old msg_control pointer into msg->msg_controllen (hence the 24 bytes seen
in the example).
Long time ago, Wei Yongjun fixed something related in commit 1ac70e7ad2
("[NET]: Fix function put_cmsg() which may cause usr application memory
overflow").
RFC3542, section 20.2. says:
The fields shown as "XX" are possible padding, between the cmsghdr
structure and the data, and between the data and the next cmsghdr
structure, if required by the implementation. While sending an
application may or may not include padding at the end of last
ancillary data in msg_controllen and implementations must accept both
as valid. On receiving a portable application must provide space for
padding at the end of the last ancillary data as implementations may
copy out the padding at the end of the control message buffer and
include it in the received msg_controllen. When recvmsg() is called
if msg_controllen is too small for all the ancillary data items
including any trailing padding after the last item an implementation
may set MSG_CTRUNC.
Since we didn't place MSG_CTRUNC for already quite a long time, just do
the same as in 1ac70e7ad2 to avoid an overflow.
Btw, even man-page author got this wrong :/ See db939c9b26e9 ("cmsg.3: Fix
error in SCM_RIGHTS code sample"). Some people must have copied this (?),
thus it got triggered in the wild (reported several times during boot by
David and HacKurx).
No Fixes tag this time as pre 2002 (that is, pre history tree).

Earlier patch 6ae459bda tried to detect void ckecksum partial
skb by comparing pull length to checksum offset. But it does
not work for all cases since checksum-offset depends on
updates to skb->data.
Following patch fixes it by validating checksum start offset
after skb-data pointer is updated. Negative value of checksum
offset start means there is no need to checksum.

Backports of 41fc014332d9 ("fib_rules: fix fib rule dumps across
multiple skbs") introduced a regression in "ip rule show" - it ends up
dumping the first rule over and over and never exiting, because 3.19
and earlier are missing commit 053c095a82cf ("netlink: make
nlmsg_end() and genlmsg_end() void"), so fib_nl_fill_rule() ends up
returning skb->len (i.e. > 0) in the success case.

dump_rules returns skb length and not error.
But when family == AF_UNSPEC, the caller of dump_rules
assumes that it returns an error. Hence, when family == AF_UNSPEC,
we continue trying to dump on -EMSGSIZE errors resulting in
incorrect dump idx carried between skbs belonging to the same dump.
This results in fib rule dump always only dumping rules that fit
into the first skb.
This patch fixes dump_rules to return error so that we exit correctly
and idx is correctly maintained between skbs that are part of the
same dump.

The commit 738ac1ebb96d02e0d23bc320302a6ea94c612dec ("net: Clone
skb before setting peeked flag") introduced a use-after-free bug
in skb_recv_datagram. This is because skb_set_peeked may create
a new skb and free the existing one. As it stands the caller will
continue to use the old freed skb.

(or the old one if unchanged).

When we calculate the checksum on the recv path, we store the
result in the skb as an optimisation in case we need the checksum
again down the line.
This is in fact bogus for the MSG_PEEK case as this is done without
any locking. So multiple threads can peek and then store the result
to the same skb, potentially resulting in bogus skb states.
This patch fixes this by only storing the result if the skb is not
shared. This preserves the optimisations for the few cases where
it can be done safely due to locking or other reasons, e.g., SIOCINQ.

Shared skbs must not be modified and this is crucial for broadcast

[1] When entering NUD_PROBE state via neigh_update(), perhaps received
from userspace, correctly (re)initialize the probes count to zero.
This is useful for forcing revalidation of a neighbor (for example
if the host is attempting to do DNA [IPv4 4436, IPv6 6059]).
[2] Notify listeners when a neighbor goes into NUD_PROBE state.
By sending notifications on entry to NUD_PROBE state listeners get
more timely warnings of imminent connectivity issues.
The current notifications on entry to NUD_STALE have somewhat
limited usefulness: NUD_STALE is a perfectly normal state, as is
NUD_DELAY, whereas notifications on entry to NUD_FAILURE come after
a neighbor reachability problem has been confirmed (typically after
three probes).

Merge commit 'v3.10.73' into msm-3.10
This merge brings us up to date with upstream kernel.org tag v3.10.73.
As part of the conflict resolution, changes introduced by commit 72684eae7
("arm64: Fix up /proc/cpuinfo") have been intentionally dropped, as they
conflict with Android changes msm-3.10 kernel to solve the problems
in a different way. Since userspace readers of this file may depend on
the existing msm-3.10 implementation, it's left as-is for now. The
commit may later be introduced if it is found to not impact userspaces
paired with this kernel.

Merge commit 'v3.10.67' into msm-3.10
This merge brings us up to date with upstream kernel.org tag v3.10.67.
It also contains changes to allow forbidden warnings introduced in
the commit 'core, nfqueue, openvswitch: Orphan frags in skb_zerocopy
and handle errors'. Once upstream has corrected these warnings, the
changes to scripts/gcc-wrapper.py, in this commit, can be reverted.

When RPS is enabled, IPI is triggered to enqueue the backlog NAPI to
the poll list. If the CPU which was found to online in get_rps_cpus
is hotplugged after the NAPI_STATE_SCHED bit is set on
enqueue_to_backlog but before the IPI is delivered in
in net_rps_action_and_irq_enable, the poll list does not have the
backlog NAPI queued. As a consequence of this, dev_cpu_callback
does not clear the NAPI_STATE_SCHED bit on hotplug.
Since NAPI_STATE_SCHED is set even after the cpu comes back up,
packets get enqueued onto the input packet queue but are never
processed since the IPI will not be triggered.
This patch handles this race by unconditionally resetting the NAPI
state for the backlog NAPI on the offline CPU in dev_cpu_callback.

The gnet_stats_copy_app() function gets called, more often than not, with its
second argument a pointer to an automatic variable in the caller's stack.
Therefore, to avoid copying garbage afterwards when calling
gnet_stats_finish_copy(), this data is better copied to a dynamically allocated
memory that gets freed after use.

Ignacy reported that when eth0 is down and add a vlan device
on top of it like:
ip link add link eth0 name eth0.1 up type vlan id 1
We will get a refcount leak:
unregister_netdevice: waiting for eth0.1 to become free. Usage count = 2
The problem is when rtnl_configure_link() fails in rtnl_newlink(),
we simply call unregister_device(), but for stacked device like vlan,
we almost do nothing when we unregister the upper device, more work
is done when we unregister the lower device, so call its ->dellink().

ifla_vf_policy[] is wrong in advertising its individual member types as
NLA_BINARY since .type = NLA_BINARY in combination with .len declares the
len member as *max* attribute length [0, len].
The issue is that when do_setvfinfo() is being called to set up a VF
through ndo handler, we could set corrupted data if the attribute length
is less than the size of the related structure itself.
The intent is exactly the opposite, namely to make sure to pass at least
data of minimum size of len.

This patch avoids calling rtnl_notify if the device ndo_bridge_getlink
handler does not return any bytes in the skb.
Alternately, the skb->len check can be moved inside rtnl_notify.
For the bridge vlan case described in 92081, there is also a fix needed
in bridge driver to generate a proper notification. Will fix that in
subsequent patch.

softnet_data.input_pkt_queue is protected by a spinlock that
we must hold when transferring packets from victim queue to an active
one. This is because other cpus could still be trying to enqueue packets
into victim queue.
A second problem is that when we transfert the NAPI poll_list from
victim to current cpu, we absolutely need to special case the percpu
backlog, because we do not want to add complex locking to protect
process_queue : Only owner cpu is allowed to manipulate it, unless cpu
is offline.
Based on initial patch from Prasad Sodagudi & Subash Abhinov
Kasiviswanathan.
This version is better because we do not slow down packet processing,
only make migration safer.

For IPv6 over UDP packets, uplink UDP checksum offloading to HW is not
supported since there is no check whether the device features are
configured with tx checksumming.
Add a new flag NETIF_F_IPV6_UDP_CSUM for tx checksumming for IPv6
over UDP packets. When a network device has this flag configured
as one of its features, UDP checksum will be offloaded for IPv6 over
UDP packets on uplink as well.

In addition to bringing in upstream commits, this merge also makes minor
changes to mainitain compatibility with upstream:
The definition of list_next_entry in qcrypto.c and ipa_dp.c has been
removed, as upstream has moved the definition to list.h. The implementation
of list_next_entry was identical between the two.
irq.c, for both arm and arm64 architecture, has had its calls to
__irq_set_affinity_locked updated to reflect changes to the API upstream.
Finally, as we have removed the sleep_length member variable of the
tick_sched struct, all changes made by upstream commit ec804bd do not
apply to our tree and have been removed from this merge. Only
kernel/time/tick-sched.c is impacted.

When performing segmentation, the mac_len value is copied right
out of the original skb. However, this value is not always set correctly
(like when the packet is VLAN-tagged) and we'll end up copying a bad
value.
One way to demonstrate this is to configure a VM which tags
packets internally and turn off VLAN acceleration on the forwarding
bridge port. The packets show up corrupt like this:
16:18:24.985548 52:54:00🆎be:25 > 52:54:00:26:ce:a3, ethertype 802.1Q
(0x8100), length 1518: vlan 100, p 0, ethertype 0x05e0,
0x0000: 8cdb 1c7c 8cdb 0064 4006 b59d 0a00 6402 ...|...d@.....d.

0x0060: 6572 6600 6e65 7470 6572 6600 6e65 7470 erf.netperf.netp
...
This also leads to awful throughput as GSO packets are dropped and
cause retransmissions.
The solution is to set the mac_len using the values already available
in then new skb. We've already adjusted all of the header offset, so we
might as well correctly figure out the mac_len using skb_reset_mac_len().
After this change, packets are segmented correctly and performance
is restored.

This reports means that we've come to netlink_sendmsg() with msg->msg_name == NULL and msg->msg_namelen > 0.
After this report there was no usual "Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference"
and this gave me a clue that address 0 is mapped and contains valid socket address structure in it.
This bug was introduced in f3d3342602f8bcbf37d7c46641cb9bca7618eb1c
(net: rework recvmsg handler msg_name and msg_namelen logic).
Commit message states that:
"Set msg->msg_name = NULL if user specified a NULL in msg_name but had a
non-null msg_namelen in verify_iovec/verify_compat_iovec. This doesn't
affect sendto as it would bail out earlier while trying to copy-in the
address."
But in fact this affects sendto when address 0 is mapped and contains
socket address structure in it. In such case copy-in address will succeed,
verify_iovec() function will successfully exit with msg->msg_namelen > 0
and msg->msg_name == NULL.
This patch fixes it by setting msg_namelen to 0 if msg_name == NULL.

Ideally, we would need to generate IP ID using a per destination IP
generator.
linux kernels used inet_peer cache for this purpose, but this had a huge
cost on servers disabling MTU discovery.
1) each inet_peer struct consumes 192 bytes
2) inetpeer cache uses a binary tree of inet_peer structs,
with a nominal size of ~66000 elements under load.
3) lookups in this tree are hitting a lot of cache lines, as tree depth
is about 20.
4) If server deals with many tcp flows, we have a high probability of
not finding the inet_peer, allocating a fresh one, inserting it in
the tree with same initial ip_id_count, (cf secure_ip_id())
5) We garbage collect inet_peer aggressively.
IP ID generation do not have to be 'perfect'
Goal is trying to avoid duplicates in a short period of time,
so that reassembly units have a chance to complete reassembly of
fragments belonging to one message before receiving other fragments
with a recycled ID.
We simply use an array of generators, and a Jenkin hash using the dst IP
as a key.
ipv6_select_ident() is put back into net/ipv6/ip6_output.c where it
belongs (it is only used from this file)
secure_ip_id() and secure_ipv6_id() no longer are needed.
Rename ip_select_ident_more() to ip_select_ident_segs() to avoid
unnecessary decrement/increment of the number of segments.

When IP route cache had been removed in linux-3.6, we broke assumption
that dst entries were all freed after rcu grace period. DST_NOCACHE
dst were supposed to be freed from dst_release(). But it appears
we want to keep such dst around, either in UDP sockets or tunnels.
In sk_dst_get() we need to make sure dst refcount is not 0
before incrementing it, or else we might end up freeing a dst
twice.
DST_NOCACHE set on a dst does not mean this dst can not be attached
to a socket or a tunnel.
Then, before actual freeing, we need to observe a rcu grace period
to make sure all other cpus can catch the fact the dst is no longer
usable.

Subsystems that want to register CPU hotplug callbacks, as well as perform
initialization for the CPUs that are already online, often do it as shown
below:
get_online_cpus();
for_each_online_cpu(cpu)
init_cpu(cpu);
register_cpu_notifier(&foobar_cpu_notifier);
put_online_cpus();
This is wrong, since it is prone to ABBA deadlocks involving the
cpu_add_remove_lock and the cpu_hotplug.lock (when running concurrently
with CPU hotplug operations).
Instead, the correct and race-free way of performing the callback
registration is:
cpu_notifier_register_begin();
for_each_online_cpu(cpu)
init_cpu(cpu);
/* Note the use of the double underscored version of the API */
__register_cpu_notifier(&foobar_cpu_notifier);
cpu_notifier_register_done();
Fix the code in net/core/flow.c by using this latter form of callback
registration.

When running RHEL6 userspace on a current upstream kernel, "ip link"
fails to show VF information.
The reason is a kernel<->userspace API change introduced by commit
88c5b5ce5c ("rtnetlink: Call nlmsg_parse() with correct header length"),
after which the kernel does not see iproute2's IFLA_EXT_MASK attribute
in the netlink request.
iproute2 adjusted for the API change in its commit 63338dca4513
("libnetlink: Use ifinfomsg instead of rtgenmsg in rtnl_wilddump_req_filter").
The problem has been noticed before:
http://marc.info/?l=linux-netdev&m=136692296022182&w=2
(Subject: Re: getting VF link info seems to be broken in 3.9-rc8)
We can do better than tell those with old userspace to upgrade. We can
recognize the old iproute2 in the kernel by checking the netlink message
length. Even when including the IFLA_EXT_MASK attribute, its netlink
message is shorter than struct ifinfomsg.
With this patch "ip link" shows VF information in both old and new
iproute2 versions.

Recycling skb always had been very tough...
This time it appears GRO layer can accumulate skb->truesize
adjustments made by drivers when they attach a fragment to skb.
skb_gro_receive() can only subtract from skb->truesize the used part
of a fragment.
I spotted this problem seeing TcpExtPruneCalled and
TcpExtTCPRcvCollapsed that were unexpected with a recent kernel, where
TCP receive window should be sized properly to accept traffic coming
from a driver not overshooting skb->truesize.

Since 115c9b8192 (rtnetlink: Fix problem with
buffer allocation), RTM_NEWLINK messages only contain the IFLA_VFINFO_LIST
attribute if they were solicited by a GETLINK message containing an
IFLA_EXT_MASK attribute with the RTEXT_FILTER_VF flag.
That was done because some user programs broke when they received more data
than expected - because IFLA_VFINFO_LIST contains information for each VF
it can become large if there are many VFs.
However, the IFLA_VF_PORTS attribute, supplied for devices which implement
ndo_get_vf_port (currently the 'enic' driver only), has the same problem.
It supplies per-VF information and can therefore become large, but it is
not currently conditional on the IFLA_EXT_MASK value.
Worse, it interacts badly with the existing EXT_MASK handling. When
IFLA_EXT_MASK is not supplied, the buffer for netlink replies is fixed at
NLMSG_GOODSIZE. If the information for IFLA_VF_PORTS exceeds this, then
rtnl_fill_ifinfo() returns -EMSGSIZE on the first message in a packet.
netlink_dump() will misinterpret this as having finished the listing and
omit data for this interface and all subsequent ones. That can cause
getifaddrs(3) to enter an infinite loop.
This patch addresses the problem by only supplying IFLA_VF_PORTS when
IFLA_EXT_MASK is supplied with the RTEXT_FILTER_VF flag set.

Without IFLA_EXT_MASK specified, the information reported for a single
interface in response to RTM_GETLINK is expected to fit within a netlink
packet of NLMSG_GOODSIZE.
If it doesn't, however, things will go badly wrong, When listing all
interfaces, netlink_dump() will incorrectly treat -EMSGSIZE on the first
message in a packet as the end of the listing and omit information for
that interface and all subsequent ones. This can cause getifaddrs(3) to
enter an infinite loop.
This patch won't fix the problem, but it will WARN_ON() making it easier to
track down what's going wrong.

The reason is that all of the addr_lock_key for vlan dev have the same class,
so if we change the status for vlan dev, the vlan dev and its real dev will
hold the same class of addr_lock_key together, so the warning happened.
we should distinguish the lock depth for vlan dev and its real dev.
v1->v2: Convert the vlan_netdev_addr_lock_key to an array of eight elements, which
could support to add 8 vlan id on a same vlan dev, I think it is enough for current
scene, because a netdev's name is limited to IFNAMSIZ which could not hold 8 vlan id,
and the vlan dev would not meet the same class key with its real dev.
The new function vlan_dev_get_lockdep_subkey() will return the subkey and make the vlan
dev could get a suitable class key.
v2->v3: According David's suggestion, I use the subclass to distinguish the lock key for vlan dev
and its real dev, but it make no sense, because the difference for subclass in the
lock_class_key doesn't mean that the difference class for lock_key, so I use lock_depth
to distinguish the different depth for every vlan dev, the same depth of the vlan dev
could have the same lock_class_key, I import the MAX_LOCK_DEPTH from the include/linux/sched.h,
I think it is enough here, the lockdep should never exceed that value.
v3->v4: Add a huge array of locking keys will waste static kernel memory and is not a appropriate method,
we could use _nested() variants to fix the problem, calculate the depth for every vlan dev,
and use the depth as the subclass for addr_lock_key.
