This reverts commit da3dcdbfc83c ("rps: Handle double list_add at
_napi_schedule") as it was causing a data stall.

When enqueue_to_backlog() fails to check NAPI_STATE_SCHED state,
an ipi will be triggered adding the backlog queue to the list
while a packet added by RPS onto the core could add a new packet
which would add the NAPI backlog struct to the backlog queue.
Fix this race for double addition to list.

Adding a new API - get_current_napi_context(), which returns the
current napi_struct on the current running CPU.
This change allows network drivers to receive the current
running napi_struct, to use when calling APIs that require it.
Adding a new field to struct softnet_data: current_napi.
The field current_napi will hold the current running napi_sturct.
Adding a call to napi_gro_flush() from process_backlog() when there
are no more packets to process, since process_backlog() doesn't
call napi_complete() API.

Merge commit 'v3.10.73' into msm-3.10
This merge brings us up to date with upstream kernel.org tag v3.10.73.
As part of the conflict resolution, changes introduced by commit 72684eae7
("arm64: Fix up /proc/cpuinfo") have been intentionally dropped, as they
conflict with Android changes msm-3.10 kernel to solve the problems
in a different way. Since userspace readers of this file may depend on
the existing msm-3.10 implementation, it's left as-is for now. The
commit may later be introduced if it is found to not impact userspaces
paired with this kernel.

When RPS is enabled, IPI is triggered to enqueue the backlog NAPI to
the poll list. If the CPU which was found to online in get_rps_cpus
is hotplugged after the NAPI_STATE_SCHED bit is set on
enqueue_to_backlog but before the IPI is delivered in
in net_rps_action_and_irq_enable, the poll list does not have the
backlog NAPI queued. As a consequence of this, dev_cpu_callback
does not clear the NAPI_STATE_SCHED bit on hotplug.
Since NAPI_STATE_SCHED is set even after the cpu comes back up,
packets get enqueued onto the input packet queue but are never
processed since the IPI will not be triggered.
This patch handles this race by unconditionally resetting the NAPI
state for the backlog NAPI on the offline CPU in dev_cpu_callback.

The gnet_stats_copy_app() function gets called, more often than not, with its
second argument a pointer to an automatic variable in the caller's stack.
Therefore, to avoid copying garbage afterwards when calling
gnet_stats_finish_copy(), this data is better copied to a dynamically allocated
memory that gets freed after use.

Ignacy reported that when eth0 is down and add a vlan device
on top of it like:
ip link add link eth0 name eth0.1 up type vlan id 1
We will get a refcount leak:
unregister_netdevice: waiting for eth0.1 to become free. Usage count = 2
The problem is when rtnl_configure_link() fails in rtnl_newlink(),
we simply call unregister_device(), but for stacked device like vlan,
we almost do nothing when we unregister the upper device, more work
is done when we unregister the lower device, so call its ->dellink().

ifla_vf_policy[] is wrong in advertising its individual member types as
NLA_BINARY since .type = NLA_BINARY in combination with .len declares the
len member as *max* attribute length [0, len].
The issue is that when do_setvfinfo() is being called to set up a VF
through ndo handler, we could set corrupted data if the attribute length
is less than the size of the related structure itself.
The intent is exactly the opposite, namely to make sure to pass at least
data of minimum size of len.

Reported in: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92081
This patch avoids calling rtnl_notify if the device ndo_bridge_getlink
handler does not return any bytes in the skb.
Alternately, the skb->len check can be moved inside rtnl_notify.
For the bridge vlan case described in 92081, there is also a fix needed
in bridge driver to generate a proper notification. Will fix that in
subsequent patch.

softnet_data.input_pkt_queue is protected by a spinlock that
we must hold when transferring packets from victim queue to an active
one. This is because other cpus could still be trying to enqueue packets
into victim queue.
A second problem is that when we transfert the NAPI poll_list from
victim to current cpu, we absolutely need to special case the percpu
backlog, because we do not want to add complex locking to protect
process_queue : Only owner cpu is allowed to manipulate it, unless cpu
is offline.
Based on initial patch from Prasad Sodagudi & Subash Abhinov
Kasiviswanathan.
This version is better because we do not slow down packet processing,
only make migration safer.

softnet_data.input_pkt_queue is protected by a spinlock that we must
hold when transferring packets from victim queue to an active one.
This is because other cpus could still be trying to enqueue packets
into victim queue.
A second problem is that when we transfert the NAPI poll_list from
victim to current cpu, we absolutely need to special case the percpu
backlog, because we do not want to add complex locking to protect
process_queue : Only owner cpu is allowed to manipulate it, unless
cpu is offline.
Based on initial patch from Prasad Sodagudi &
Subash Abhinov Kasiviswanathan.
This version is better because we do not slow down packet processing,
only make migration safer.

For IPv6 over UDP packets, uplink UDP checksum offloading to HW is not
supported since there is no check whether the device features are
configured with tx checksumming.
Add a new flag NETIF_F_IPV6_UDP_CSUM for tx checksumming for IPv6
over UDP packets. When a network device has this flag configured
as one of its features, UDP checksum will be offloaded for IPv6 over
UDP packets on uplink as well.

changes to mainitain compatibility with upstream:
The definition of list_next_entry in qcrypto.c and ipa_dp.c has been
removed, as upstream has moved the definition to list.h. The implementation
of list_next_entry was identical between the two.
irq.c, for both arm and arm64 architecture, has had its calls to

Finally, as we have removed the sleep_length member variable of the

When performing segmentation, the mac_len value is copied right
out of the original skb. However, this value is not always set correctly
(like when the packet is VLAN-tagged) and we'll end up copying a bad
value.
One way to demonstrate this is to configure a VM which tags
packets internally and turn off VLAN acceleration on the forwarding
bridge port. The packets show up corrupt like this:
16:18:24.985548 52:54:00🆎be:25 > 52:54:00:26:ce:a3, ethertype 802.1Q
(0x8100), length 1518: vlan 100, p 0, ethertype 0x05e0,

0x0060: 6572 6600 6e65 7470 6572 6600 6e65 7470 erf.netperf.netp
...
This also leads to awful throughput as GSO packets are dropped and
cause retransmissions.
The solution is to set the mac_len using the values already available
in then new skb. We've already adjusted all of the header offset, so we
might as well correctly figure out the mac_len using skb_reset_mac_len().
After this change, packets are segmented correctly and performance
is restored.

This reports means that we've come to netlink_sendmsg() with msg->msg_name == NULL and msg->msg_namelen > 0.
After this report there was no usual "Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference"
and this gave me a clue that address 0 is mapped and contains valid socket address structure in it.
This bug was introduced in f3d3342602f8bcbf37d7c46641cb9bca7618eb1c
(net: rework recvmsg handler msg_name and msg_namelen logic).
Commit message states that:
"Set msg->msg_name = NULL if user specified a NULL in msg_name but had a
non-null msg_namelen in verify_iovec/verify_compat_iovec. This doesn't
affect sendto as it would bail out earlier while trying to copy-in the
address."
But in fact this affects sendto when address 0 is mapped and contains
socket address structure in it. In such case copy-in address will succeed,
verify_iovec() function will successfully exit with msg->msg_namelen > 0
and msg->msg_name == NULL.
This patch fixes it by setting msg_namelen to 0 if msg_name == NULL.

Ideally, we would need to generate IP ID using a per destination IP
generator.
linux kernels used inet_peer cache for this purpose, but this had a huge
cost on servers disabling MTU discovery.
1) each inet_peer struct consumes 192 bytes
2) inetpeer cache uses a binary tree of inet_peer structs,
with a nominal size of ~66000 elements under load.
3) lookups in this tree are hitting a lot of cache lines, as tree depth
is about 20.
4) If server deals with many tcp flows, we have a high probability of
not finding the inet_peer, allocating a fresh one, inserting it in
the tree with same initial ip_id_count, (cf secure_ip_id())
5) We garbage collect inet_peer aggressively.
IP ID generation do not have to be 'perfect'
Goal is trying to avoid duplicates in a short period of time,
so that reassembly units have a chance to complete reassembly of
fragments belonging to one message before receiving other fragments
with a recycled ID.
We simply use an array of generators, and a Jenkin hash using the dst IP
as a key.
ipv6_select_ident() is put back into net/ipv6/ip6_output.c where it
belongs (it is only used from this file)
secure_ip_id() and secure_ipv6_id() no longer are needed.
Rename ip_select_ident_more() to ip_select_ident_segs() to avoid
unnecessary decrement/increment of the number of segments.

When IP route cache had been removed in linux-3.6, we broke assumption
that dst entries were all freed after rcu grace period. DST_NOCACHE
dst were supposed to be freed from dst_release(). But it appears
we want to keep such dst around, either in UDP sockets or tunnels.
In sk_dst_get() we need to make sure dst refcount is not 0
before incrementing it, or else we might end up freeing a dst
twice.
DST_NOCACHE set on a dst does not mean this dst can not be attached
to a socket or a tunnel.
Then, before actual freeing, we need to observe a rcu grace period
to make sure all other cpus can catch the fact the dst is no longer
usable.

Subsystems that want to register CPU hotplug callbacks, as well as perform
initialization for the CPUs that are already online, often do it as shown
below:
get_online_cpus();
for_each_online_cpu(cpu)
init_cpu(cpu);
register_cpu_notifier(&foobar_cpu_notifier);
put_online_cpus();
This is wrong, since it is prone to ABBA deadlocks involving the
cpu_add_remove_lock and the cpu_hotplug.lock (when running concurrently
with CPU hotplug operations).
Instead, the correct and race-free way of performing the callback
registration is:
cpu_notifier_register_begin();
for_each_online_cpu(cpu)
init_cpu(cpu);
/* Note the use of the double underscored version of the API */
__register_cpu_notifier(&foobar_cpu_notifier);
cpu_notifier_register_done();
Fix the code in net/core/flow.c by using this latter form of callback
registration.

When running RHEL6 userspace on a current upstream kernel, "ip link"
fails to show VF information.
The reason is a kernel<->userspace API change introduced by commit
88c5b5ce5c ("rtnetlink: Call nlmsg_parse() with correct header length"),
after which the kernel does not see iproute2's IFLA_EXT_MASK attribute
in the netlink request.
iproute2 adjusted for the API change in its commit 63338dca4513
("libnetlink: Use ifinfomsg instead of rtgenmsg in rtnl_wilddump_req_filter").
The problem has been noticed before:
http://marc.info/?l=linux-netdev&m=136692296022182&w=2
(Subject: Re: getting VF link info seems to be broken in 3.9-rc8)
We can do better than tell those with old userspace to upgrade. We can
recognize the old iproute2 in the kernel by checking the netlink message
length. Even when including the IFLA_EXT_MASK attribute, its netlink
message is shorter than struct ifinfomsg.
With this patch "ip link" shows VF information in both old and new
iproute2 versions.

Recycling skb always had been very tough...
This time it appears GRO layer can accumulate skb->truesize
adjustments made by drivers when they attach a fragment to skb.
skb_gro_receive() can only subtract from skb->truesize the used part
of a fragment.
I spotted this problem seeing TcpExtPruneCalled and
TcpExtTCPRcvCollapsed that were unexpected with a recent kernel, where
TCP receive window should be sized properly to accept traffic coming
from a driver not overshooting skb->truesize.

Since 115c9b8192 (rtnetlink: Fix problem with
buffer allocation), RTM_NEWLINK messages only contain the IFLA_VFINFO_LIST
attribute if they were solicited by a GETLINK message containing an
IFLA_EXT_MASK attribute with the RTEXT_FILTER_VF flag.
That was done because some user programs broke when they received more data
than expected - because IFLA_VFINFO_LIST contains information for each VF
it can become large if there are many VFs.
However, the IFLA_VF_PORTS attribute, supplied for devices which implement
ndo_get_vf_port (currently the 'enic' driver only), has the same problem.
It supplies per-VF information and can therefore become large, but it is
not currently conditional on the IFLA_EXT_MASK value.
Worse, it interacts badly with the existing EXT_MASK handling. When
IFLA_EXT_MASK is not supplied, the buffer for netlink replies is fixed at
NLMSG_GOODSIZE. If the information for IFLA_VF_PORTS exceeds this, then
rtnl_fill_ifinfo() returns -EMSGSIZE on the first message in a packet.
netlink_dump() will misinterpret this as having finished the listing and
omit data for this interface and all subsequent ones. That can cause
getifaddrs(3) to enter an infinite loop.
This patch addresses the problem by only supplying IFLA_VF_PORTS when
IFLA_EXT_MASK is supplied with the RTEXT_FILTER_VF flag set.

Without IFLA_EXT_MASK specified, the information reported for a single
interface in response to RTM_GETLINK is expected to fit within a netlink
packet of NLMSG_GOODSIZE.
If it doesn't, however, things will go badly wrong, When listing all
interfaces, netlink_dump() will incorrectly treat -EMSGSIZE on the first
message in a packet as the end of the listing and omit information for
that interface and all subsequent ones. This can cause getifaddrs(3) to
enter an infinite loop.
This patch won't fix the problem, but it will WARN_ON() making it easier to
track down what's going wrong.

The reason is that all of the addr_lock_key for vlan dev have the same class,
so if we change the status for vlan dev, the vlan dev and its real dev will
hold the same class of addr_lock_key together, so the warning happened.
we should distinguish the lock depth for vlan dev and its real dev.
v1->v2: Convert the vlan_netdev_addr_lock_key to an array of eight elements, which
could support to add 8 vlan id on a same vlan dev, I think it is enough for current
scene, because a netdev's name is limited to IFNAMSIZ which could not hold 8 vlan id,
and the vlan dev would not meet the same class key with its real dev.
The new function vlan_dev_get_lockdep_subkey() will return the subkey and make the vlan
dev could get a suitable class key.
v2->v3: According David's suggestion, I use the subclass to distinguish the lock key for vlan dev
and its real dev, but it make no sense, because the difference for subclass in the
lock_class_key doesn't mean that the difference class for lock_key, so I use lock_depth
to distinguish the different depth for every vlan dev, the same depth of the vlan dev
could have the same lock_class_key, I import the MAX_LOCK_DEPTH from the include/linux/sched.h,
I think it is enough here, the lockdep should never exceed that value.
v3->v4: Add a huge array of locking keys will waste static kernel memory and is not a appropriate method,
we could use _nested() variants to fix the problem, calculate the depth for every vlan dev,
and use the depth as the subclass for addr_lock_key.

The BPF_S_ANC_NLATTR and BPF_S_ANC_NLATTR_NEST extensions fail to check
for a minimal message length before testing the supplied offset to be
within the bounds of the message. This allows the subtraction of the nla
header to underflow and therefore -- as the data type is unsigned --
allowing far to big offset and length values for the search of the
netlink attribute.
The remainder calculation for the BPF_S_ANC_NLATTR_NEST extension is
also wrong. It has the minuend and subtrahend mixed up, therefore
calculates a huge length value, allowing to overrun the end of the
message while looking for the netlink attribute.
The following three BPF snippets will trigger the bugs when attached to
a UNIX datagram socket and parsing a message with length 1, 2 or 3.

In case of tcp, gso_size contains the tcpmss.
For UFO (udp fragmentation offloading) skbs, gso_size is the fragment
payload size, i.e. we must not account for udp header size.
Otherwise, when using virtio drivers, a to-be-forwarded UFO GSO packet
will be needlessly fragmented in the forward path, because we think its
individual segments are too large for the outgoing link.

Commit 3ff661c38c ("net: rtnetlink notify events for FDB NTF_SELF adds and
deletes") reuses the function nlmsg_populate_fdb_fill() to notify fdb events.
But this function was used only for dump and thus was always setting the
flag NLM_F_MULTI, which is wrong in case of a single notification.
Libraries like libnl will wait forever for NLMSG_DONE.

sock_alloc_send_pskb() & sk_page_frag_refill()
have a loop trying high order allocations to prepare
skb with low number of fragments as this increases performance.
Problem is that under memory pressure/fragmentation, this can
trigger OOM while the intent was only to try the high order
allocations, then fallback to order-0 allocations.
We had various reports from unexpected regressions.
According to David, setting __GFP_NORETRY should be fine,
as the asynchronous compaction is still enabled, and this
will prevent OOM from kicking as in :

This is a generic solution to resolve a specific problem that I have observed.
If the encapsulation of an skb changes then ability to offload checksums
may also change. In particular it may be necessary to perform checksumming
in software.
An example of such a case is where a non-GRE packet is received but
is to be encapsulated and transmitted as GRE.
Another example relates to my proposed support for for packets
that are non-MPLS when received but MPLS when transmitted.
The cost of this change is that the value of the csum variable may be
checked when it previously was not. In the case where the csum variable is
true this is pure overhead. In the case where the csum variable is false it
leads to software checksumming, which I believe also leads to correct
checksums in transmitted packets for the cases described above.
Further analysis:
This patch relies on the return value of can_checksum_protocol()
being correct and in turn the return value of skb_network_protocol(),
used to provide the protocol parameter of can_checksum_protocol(),
being correct. It also relies on the features passed to skb_segment()
and in turn to can_checksum_protocol() being correct.
I believe that this problem has not been observed for VLANs because it
appears that almost all drivers, the exception being xgbe, set
vlan_features such that that the checksum offload support for VLAN packets
is greater than or equal to that of non-VLAN packets.
I wonder if the code in xgbe may be an oversight and the hardware does
support checksumming of VLAN packets. If so it may be worth updating the
vlan_features of the driver as this patch will force such checksums to be
performed in software rather than hardware.

When the vlan code detects that the real device can do TX VLAN offloads
in hardware, it tries to arrange for the real device's header_ops to
be invoked directly.
But it does so illegally, by simply hooking the real device's
header_ops up to the VLAN device.
This doesn't work because we will end up invoking a set of header_ops
routines which expect a device type which matches the real device, but
will see a VLAN device instead.
Fix this by providing a pass-thru set of header_ops which will arrange
to pass the proper real device instead.
To facilitate this add a dev_rebuild_header(). There are
implementations which provide a ->cache and ->create but not a
->rebuild (f.e. PLIP). So we need a helper function just like
dev_hard_header() to avoid crashes.
Use this helper in the one existing place where the
header_ops->rebuild was being invoked, the neighbour code.
With lots of help from Florian Westphal.

The following commit:
b6c40d68ff
net: only invoke dev->change_rx_flags when device is UP
tried to fix a problem with VLAN devices and promiscuouse flag setting.
The issue was that VLAN device was setting a flag on an interface that
was down, thus resulting in bad promiscuity count.
This commit blocked flag propagation to any device that is currently
down.
A later commit:
deede2fabe
vlan: Don't propagate flag changes on down interfaces
fixed VLAN code to only propagate flags when the VLAN interface is up,
thus fixing the same issue as above, only localized to VLAN.
The problem we have now is that if we have create a complex stack
involving multiple software devices like bridges, bonds, and vlans,
then it is possible that the flags would not propagate properly to
the physical devices. A simple examle of the scenario is the
following:
eth0----> bond0 ----> bridge0 ---> vlan50
If bond0 or eth0 happen to be down at the time bond0 is added to
the bridge, then eth0 will never have promisc mode set which is
currently required for operation as part of the bridge. As a
result, packets with vlan50 will be dropped by the interface.
The only 2 devices that implement the special flag handling are
VLAN and DSA and they both have required code to prevent incorrect
flag propagation. As a result we can remove the generic solution
introduced in b6c40d68ff and leave
it to the individual devices to decide whether they will block
flag propagation or not.

Pushing original fragments through causes several problems. For example
for matching, frags may not be matched correctly. Take following
example:
<example>
On HOSTA do:
ip6tables -I INPUT -p icmpv6 -j DROP
ip6tables -I INPUT -p icmpv6 -m icmp6 --icmpv6-type 128 -j ACCEPT
and on HOSTB you do:
ping6 HOSTA -s2000 (MTU is 1500)
Incoming echo requests will be filtered out on HOSTA. This issue does
not occur with smaller packets than MTU (where fragmentation does not happen)
</example>
As was discussed previously, the only correct solution seems to be to use
reassembled skb instead of separete frags. Doing this has positive side
effects in reducing sk_buff by one pointer (nfct_reasm) and also the reams
dances in ipvs and conntrack can be removed.
Future plan is to remove net/ipv6/netfilter/nf_conntrack_reasm.c
entirely and use code in net/ipv6/reassembly.c instead.

This patch now always passes msg->msg_namelen as 0. recvmsg handlers must
set msg_namelen to the proper size <= sizeof(struct sockaddr_storage)
to return msg_name to the user.
This prevents numerous uninitialized memory leaks we had in the
recvmsg handlers and makes it harder for new code to accidentally leak
uninitialized memory.
Optimize for the case recvfrom is called with NULL as address. We don't
need to copy the address at all, so set it to NULL before invoking the
recvmsg handler. We can do so, because all the recvmsg handlers must
cope with the case a plain read() is called on them. read() also sets
msg_name to NULL.
Also document these changes in include/linux/net.h as suggested by David
Miller.
Changes since RFC:
Set msg->msg_name = NULL if user specified a NULL in msg_name but had a
non-null msg_namelen in verify_iovec/verify_compat_iovec. This doesn't
affect sendto as it would bail out earlier while trying to copy-in the
address. It also more naturally reflects the logic by the callers of
verify_iovec.
With this change in place I could remove "
if (!uaddr || msg_sys->msg_namelen == 0)
msg->msg_name = NULL
".
This change does not alter the user visible error logic as we ignore
msg_namelen as long as msg_name is NULL.
Also remove two unnecessary curly brackets in ___sys_recvmsg and change
comments to netdev style.

After hearing many people over past years complaining against TSO being
bursty or even buggy, we are proud to present automatic sizing of TSO
packets.
One part of the problem is that tcp_tso_should_defer() uses an heuristic
relying on upcoming ACKS instead of a timer, but more generally, having
big TSO packets makes little sense for low rates, as it tends to create
micro bursts on the network, and general consensus is to reduce the
buffering amount.
This patch introduces a per socket sk_pacing_rate, that approximates
the current sending rate, and allows us to size the TSO packets so
that we try to send one packet every ms.
This field could be set by other transports.
Patch has no impact for high speed flows, where having large TSO packets
makes sense to reach line rate.
For other flows, this helps better packet scheduling and ACK clocking.
This patch increases performance of TCP flows in lossy environments.
A new sysctl (tcp_min_tso_segs) is added, to specify the
minimal size of a TSO packet (default being 2).
A follow-up patch will provide a new packet scheduler (FQ), using
sk_pacing_rate as an input to perform optional per flow pacing.
This explains why we chose to set sk_pacing_rate to twice the current
rate, allowing 'slow start' ramp up.
sk_pacing_rate = 2 * cwnd * mss / srtt

Fix the iproute2 command `bridge vlan show`, after switching from
rtgenmsg to ifinfomsg.
Let's start with a little history:
Feb 20: Vlad Yasevich got his VLAN-aware bridge patchset included in
the 3.9 merge window.
In the kernel commit 6cbdceeb, he added attribute support to
bridge GETLINK requests sent with rtgenmsg.
Mar 6th: Vlad got this iproute2 reference implementation of the bridge
vlan netlink interface accepted (iproute2 9eff0e5c)
Apr 25th: iproute2 switched from using rtgenmsg to ifinfomsg (63338dca)
http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/239602/http://marc.info/?t=136680900700007
Apr 28th: Linus released 3.9
Apr 30th: Stephen released iproute2 3.9.0
The `bridge vlan show` command haven't been working since the switch to
ifinfomsg, or in a released version of iproute2. Since the kernel side
only supports rtgenmsg, which iproute2 switched away from just prior to
the iproute2 3.9.0 release.
I haven't been able to find any documentation, about neither rtgenmsg
nor ifinfomsg, and in which situation to use which, but kernel commit
88c5b5ce seams to suggest that ifinfomsg should be used.
Fixing this in kernel will break compatibility, but I doubt that anybody
have been using it due to this bug in the user space reference
implementation, at least not without noticing this bug. That said the
functionality is still fully functional in 3.9, when reversing iproute2
commit 63338dca.
This could also be fixed in iproute2, but thats an ugly patch that would
reintroduce rtgenmsg in iproute2, and from searching in netdev it seams
like rtgenmsg usage is discouraged. I'm assuming that the only reason
that Vlad implemented the kernel side to use rtgenmsg, was because
iproute2 was using it at the time.

It's possible to assign an invalid value to the net.core.somaxconn

The sk_max_ack_backlog field of the sock structure is defined as
unsigned short. Therefore, the backlog argument in inet_listen()

In a rare race-condition, it's possible that a CPU will be brought
online between when the for_each_online_cpu() loop executes to
call flow_cache_cpu_prepare(), and when the hotplug notifier for
calling this same function is registered. If this happens,
flow_cache_cpu_prepare() will never be called for the new CPU,
resulting in crashes due to uninitialized per-cpu data.
Fix this by preventing CPUs from being added or removed during
this small but sensitive window.

Florian made sure we set pkt_type to PACKET_OTHERHOST

particular id.
But we also have a problem if prio bits are set.
Steinar reported an issue on a router receiving IPv6 frames with a
vlan tag of 4000 (id 0, prio 2), and tunneled into a sit device,
because skb->vlan_tci is set.
Forwarded frame is completely corrupted : We can see (8100:4000)
being inserted in the middle of IPv6 source address :

It seems we are not really ready to properly cope with this right now.
We can probably do better in future kernels :
vlan_get_ingress_priority() should be a netdev property instead of
a per vlan_dev one.
For stable kernels, lets clear vlan_tci to fix the bugs.

Convert all skb_queue_purge() calls to the __skb_queue_purge() variant

When the kernel (compiled with CONFIG_PREEMPT=n) is performing the
rename of a network interface, it can end up waiting for a workqueue
to complete. If userland is able to invoke a SIOCGIFNAME ioctl or a
SO_BINDTODEVICE getsockopt in between, the kernel will deadlock due to
the fact that read_secklock_begin() will spin forever waiting for the
writer process (the one doing the interface rename) to update the
devnet_rename_seq sequence.
This patch fixes the problem by adding a helper (netdev_get_name())
and using it in the code handling the SIOCGIFNAME ioctl and
SO_BINDTODEVICE setsockopt.
The netdev_get_name() helper uses raw_seqcount_begin() to avoid
spinning forever, waiting for devnet_rename_seq->sequence to become
even. cond_resched() is used in the contended case, before retrying
the access to give the writer process a chance to finish.
The use of raw_seqcount_begin() will incur some unneeded work in the
reader process in the contended case, but this is better than
deadlocking the system.

As part of the push to add 802.1ad server provider tagging support to the
kernel the VLAN features flags were renamed. Unfortunately the kernel name
for the VLAN hardware acceleration features that the kernel shows user space
was included in the rename, which broke ethtool (txvlan and rxvlan options
do not work). This patch restores the original names, i.e. the original ABI.
If we wanted to make clear to users that we are refering to CTAGs we can
always change ethtool's short_name and long_name for these features (for
example something along the lines of txvlan -> txvlan-ctag, tx-vlan-offload ->
tx-vlan-ctag-offload).

Currently, __hw_addr_sync_one is called in a loop by
__hw_addr_sync_multiple to sync each of a "from" device's hw addresses
to a "to" device. __hw_addr_sync_one calls __hw_addr_add_ex to attempt
to add each address. __hw_addr_add_ex is called with global=false, and
sync=true.
__hw_addr_add_ex checks to see if the new address matches an
address already on the list. If so, it tests global and sync. In this
case, sync=true, and it then checks if the address is already synced,
and if so, returns 0.
This 0 return causes __hw_addr_sync_one to increment the sync_cnt
and refcount for the "from" list's address entry, even though the address
is already synced and has a reference and sync_cnt. This will cause
the sync_cnt and refcount to increment without bound every time an
addresses is added to the "from" device and synced to the "to" device.
The fix here has two parts:
First, when __hw_addr_add_ex finds the address already exists
and is synced, return -EEXIST instead of 0.
Second, __hw_addr_sync_one checks the error return for -EEXIST,
and if so, it (a) does not add a refcount/sync_cnt, and (b) returns 0
itself so that __hw_addr_sync_multiple will not return an error.

When an address is added to a subordinate interface (the "to"
list), the address entry in the "from" list is not marked "synced" as
the entry added to the "to" list is.
When performing the unsync operation (e.g., dev_mc_unsync),
__hw_addr_unsync_one calls __hw_addr_del_entry with the "synced"
parameter set to true for the case when the address reference is being
released from the "from" list. This causes a test inside to fail,
with the result being that the reference count on the "from" address
is not properly decremeted and the address on the "from" list will
never be freed.
Correct this by having __hw_addr_unsync_one call the
__hw_addr_del_entry function with the "sync" flag set to false for the
"remove from the from list" case.

After analysis, I found that inet6_sk() could be NULL while the

Bug was added in linux-2.6.29 when RCU lookups were introduced in UDP

Once an IPv6 socket, using SLAB_DESTROY_BY_RCU is inserted in a hash
table, we no longer can clear pinet6 field.
This patch extends logic used in commit fcbdf09d96
("net: fix nulls list corruptions in sk_prot_alloc")
TCP/UDP/UDPLite IPv6 protocols provide their own .clear_sk() method
to make sure we do not clear pinet6 field.

Currently, peeking on a unix datagram socket with an offset larger than len of
the data in the sk receive queue returns immediately with bogus data. That's
because *off is not reset between each skb_queue_walk().
This patch fixes this so that the behavior is the same as peeking with no
offset on an empty queue: the caller blocks.

"77c1090 net: fix infinite loop in __skb_recv_datagram()" (v3.8) introduced a
regression:
After that commit, recv can no longer peek beyond a 0-sized skb in the queue.
__skb_recv_datagram() instead stops at the first skb with len == 0 and results
in the system call failing with -EFAULT via skb_copy_datagram_iovec().
When peeking at an offset with 0-sized skb(s), each one of those is received
only once, in sequence. The offset starts moving forward again after receiving
datagrams with len > 0.

vxlan: generalize forwarding tables
relaxed the address checks in rtnl_fdb_del() to use is_zero_ether_addr().
This allows users to add multicast addresses using the fdb API. However,
the check in rtnl_fdb_del() still uses a more strict
is_valid_ether_addr() which rejects multicast addresses. Thus it
is possible to add an fdb that can not be later removed.
Relax the check in rtnl_fdb_del() as well.

The be2net driver had a bug fix in 'net' that overlapped with the VLAN

An IGB conflict existed because in 'net' the build_skb() support was
reverted, and in 'net-next' there was a comment style fix within that
code.
Several batman-adv conflicts were resolved by making sure that all
calls to batadv_is_my_mac() are changed to have a new bat_priv first

The current implementation of dev_uc_sync/unsync() assumes that there is
a strict 1-to-1 relationship between the source and destination of the sync.
In other words, once an address has been synced to a destination device, it
will not be synced to any other device through the sync API.
However, there are some virtual devices that aggreate a number of lower
devices and need to sync addresses to all of them. The current
API falls short there.
This patch introduces a new dev_uc_sync_multiple() api that can be called
in the above circumstances and allows sync to work for every invocation.

Now that uids and gids are completely encapsulated in kuid_t
and kgid_t we no longer need to pass struct cred which allowed
us to test both the uid and the user namespace for equality.
Passing struct cred potentially allows us to pass the entire group

justifies retaining code for a future potential application.

* Add net namespace support to NFLOG, ULOG and ebt_ulog and NFQUEUE.
The LOG and ebt_log target has been also adapted, but they still
depend on the syslog netnamespace that seems to be missing, from
Gao Feng.
* Don't lose indications of congestion in IPv6 fragmentation handling,
from Hannes Frederic Sowa.i
* IPVS conversion to use RCU, including some code consolidation patches
and optimizations, also some from Julian Anastasov.
* cpu fanout support for NFQUEUE, from Holger Eitzenberger.
* Better error reporting to userspace when dropping packets from
all our _*_[xfrm|route]_me_harder functions, from Patrick McHardy.

Commit 130549fe ("netfilter: reset nf_trace in nf_reset") added code
to reset nf_trace in nf_reset(). This is wrong and unnecessary.
nf_reset() is used in the following cases:
- when passing packets up the the socket layer, at which point we want to
release all netfilter references that might keep modules pinned while
the packet is queued. nf_trace doesn't matter anymore at this point.
- when encapsulating or decapsulating IPsec packets. We want to continue
tracing these packets after IPsec processing.
- when passing packets through virtual network devices. Only devices on
that encapsulate in IPv4/v6 matter since otherwise nf_trace is not
used anymore. Its not entirely clear whether those packets should
be traced after that, however we've always done that.
- when passing packets through virtual network devices that make the
packet cross network namespace boundaries. This is the only cases
where we clearly want to reset nf_trace and is also what the
original patch intended to fix.
Add a new function nf_reset_trace() and use it in dev_forward_skb() to
fix this properly.

A few drivers use dev_uc_sync/unsync to synchronize the
address lists from master down to slave/lower devices. In
some cases (bond/team) a single address list is synched down
to multiple devices. At the time of unsync, we have a leak
in these lower devices, because "synced" is treated as a
boolean and the address will not be unsynced for anything after
the first device/call.
Treat "synced" as a count (same as refcount) and allow all
unsync calls to work.

Commit 7d4c04fc17 ("net: add option to enable

causing the bit-wise OR to bind to the sock_flags call instead of the result of
the terniary conditional. This fixes the *_poll functions to work properly. The
old code results in "mask |= POLLPRI" instead of what was intended, which is to
only include POLLPRI when the socket option is enabled.
